LAKE TITICACA Lake Titicaca, the largest lake in South America, lies on the border between Peru and Bolivia. At 3,812 m (12,507 ft.) above sea level is the highest navigable lake in the world. It has a total surface area of 8,372 km2 (3,232 mi 2 ). The lake is renowned for its deep sapphire-blue waters which contrast with the different shades of brown and ochre of the countryside, dotted here and there with small towns consisting of mud-brick houses with redcolored tiled roofs and stone churches. The blue skies are simply endless and the majestic snow-covered mountain peaks of Bolivia can be appreciated in the far distance. Lake Titicaca is notable for the unique floating islands of the Uros people, made from totora reeds. It also has a number of natural islands, including Amantani and Taquile in Peru, and the famous islands of the Sun and the Moon in Bolivia. Lake Titicaca holds large populations of water birds and several threatened species such as the huge Titicaca Water Frog and the flightless Titicaca Grebe which are largely or entirely restricted to the lake.

PRIVATE SUASI ISLAND CIRCUIT 3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS Suasi Island offers a great opportunity to relax, disconnect from your daily routine, and enjoy nature. Located in the northeastern part of Lake Titicaca, you will find yourself far away from the noise of modern civilization. Suasi will offer you luxuries normally quite difficult to obtain: peace and tranquility. The 43 hectares island is a model of conservation, respect for local customs, and development based on ecotourism and in complete harmony with the environment. The facilities run entirely on solar energy. You will be amazed by the sunrises and sunsets which appear much more intense in this part of the world. This is a true visual feast of colors and sensations. 3

Itinerary LAKE TITICACA PRIVATE SUASI ISLAND CIRCUIT DAY 1: PUNO DAY 2: SUASI ISLAND DAY 3: CAMBRIA - JULIACA NOTE Upon arrival at Juliaca airport and on your way to your hotel in Puno, you will visit a pre-inca burial ground at Sillustani. There you will find towerlike structures called Chullpas which symbolized life and birth; they are ancient and impressive tombs for chiefs and other dignitaries. Later the site was inhabited by the Incas, who made their own version of these towers. This is an impressive site that combines archaeology, history, and an amazing landscape. The visit takes 02 hours. NOTE: This stopover is only an option for passengers whose flights arrive no later than 1 p.m. as the site at Sillustani closes at 5 p.m. On your way to Suasi Island you will make a stop at one of the 42 floating islands made with totora reeds by the Uros people. They were originally a pre-inca civilization who was forced to take up residence on the floating islands when the Incas expanded onto their land. You will be able to meet one of the traditional families living there and learn about their customs. Afterwards, you will also enjoy an exclusive cultural experience visiting the traditional Alsuno community of weavers on Taquile, a hilly island located 45 km east of Puno. Taquile and its Textile Art were proclaimed a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. After enjoying a delicious breakfast, a motor boat will take you from Suasi Island to the town of Cambria, a journey lasting approximately 15 minutes. From there, a four-wheel drive vehicle takes you all the way back to Juliaca airport in time for your flight. This journey will last 2 ½ hours, enabling you to enjoy the amazing scenery and spectacular views of Lake Titicaca on the way. The motorboat that takes clients to the mainland is available from 7 am onwards. Nevertheless, the high tide and waves at night and at dawn can cause considerable delays, which is why earlier departures leaving Suasi are not feasible. Therefore, we advise customers to book their flights out of Juliaca accordingly. The best time to fly out would be sometime in the afternoon. For those looking to take the train or the special Tourist Bus out of Puno, please take into account the fact that these leave early in the morning, at 8 a.m. and 7 a.m. respectively. This means that clients would need to stay one additional night in Puno in order to take either of these the following day. 4

TITILAKA Titilaka, a modern all-inclusive lodge on a remote peninsula on the Peruvian shores of Lake Titicaca, offers a luxurious refuge from which to explore the treasured natural, cultural, and historical resources of this mystical region. Visitors often compare the setting with the Scottish highlands or Patagonia. Titilaka is strategically located in a rural community south of Puno (the main city in the Peruvian shore of the lake), surrounded by small villages of the Quechua and Aymara cultures. Titilaka offers a variety of excursions and activities. You have the option to choose whether you want a full day excursion or shorter activities. You get to decide how to spend your time in the island and visit its surroundings and it s all included. 6

Itinerary TITILAKA NEARBY ACTIVITES (1/4 DAY) According to your itinerary and preferences, you can choose from the following excursions or activities: Boat House / Nautical sports The first nautical sports facility on Lake Titicaca, the boat house offers you the exclusive opportunity to sail at more than 12,000 feet above sea level. Choose among kayaks, canadian canoes, paddle boards, and sunfish sailboats, or try them all as you explore this wonderful body of water. An experienced instructor will explain navigation procedures before your nautical journey and will look over your safety so you can explore the lake and enjoy the serenity of its views and silence. Cycling Plateria Cycling through the fields of Plateria offers unforgettable scenery as you explore outdoors under Puno s blue sky. Crossing varying terrain, you will follow rural paths along the lakeshore where you will see locals participating in their daily activities, possibly in traditional wear. Be it farming the earth with old-fashioned tools, or employing traditional means of transportation like a donkey for totora reed gathering, locals can be seen working in the company of their playful children. Enjoy the freedom and fresh air in this engaging activity where you set the pace and direction. Soundowner Aymar Constellation observation Puno s clear skies and the Altiplano s serenity contribute to make the lake s environment a perfect place for astrological observation. Layer up before stepping outside to the lodge gardens where your guide will explain the movement of stars and locate constellations such as the Wawawara Hawira, or Milky Way. Learn about the religious beliefs of the Andean societies in the duality between the sun and moon as origin of the world and cosmic order. Rafting through the reeds Allow your guide to gently lead you on a raft through masses of totora reed near the lodges as you learn more about this local hydrophilic plant species. Explore the lake s ecosystem and learn about the close relationship between the peoples inhabiting the lake and its natural resources. Strolling across the Altiplano Admire the magnificent views, hues, and impressive Andean geography while you walk along rural paths near Titilaka. Visit a local Andean community in the Peruvian Altiplano and learn more about their lives, traditions, and practices. Observe local agricultural and fishing practicesan essential part of their daily routine. FULL DAY EXCURSIONS Islands of Lake Titicaca Explore the Uros floating islands and the Island of Taquile on this full-day trip.
