water In an average winter, Crater Lake National Park is used to seeing walls of snow taller than cars. These massive snow drifts melted slowly throughout the warmer months and are a source of water for local residents, farmers, animals, and ecosystems. Recently, we have been experiencing rapid snow melt. This contributes to drought conditions later in the season, even during years of heavy snow. The entire region is recovering from one of the worst droughts in recorded history due to shifts in climate and weather patterns. Xanterra and the National Park Service acted quickly to implement a variety of water-saving measures, including the installation of efficient water fixtures, operational changes, and guest outreach. Unfortunately, our region is expected to have similar drought conditions in the years to come, so our job is not over. Please help us conserve this strained resource by minimizing water usage during your stay. The Data: Crater Lake National Park Lodges reduced water usage by almost 9% in 2016 thanks in large part to our conscientious guests.
Want to Help? If you would like to help us conserve water, please consider turning off the tap while brushing your teeth or shaving, as well as reusing towels and linens that are still clean.

Local Flavor Eating food that is local and in season is better for your health, community, and environment. The fresher food is, the more nutrients it contains and the better it tastes! Buying local also means investing in your local economy and reducing the environmental impacts of long-distance shipping.
