Transportation about your You MUST have your passport with you! Bring a good-quality print colour copy of your passport with you. We also recommend that you scan a copy and email it to yourself. During the flight keep your passport along with your program folder in your carry on. Once you get to the hotel, leave your passport in the safe or secure with the front desk.
Transportation Be prepared for your flight! Pack a bottle of water (fill after security). Take a jacket if you tend to get cold. Most flights will serve dinner and a light breakfast before landing. Take snacks if you wish!

Finding your way Before traveling, download maps of Athens and the other places you are going to visit in your cell phone, so that you can use them to find your way even without internet connection!
Finding your way Beat is an app that will allow you to move around the city. Insert the address you wish to go to, tap on your smartphone, and you will get a taxi ride in just a few minutes, at no extra cost! Taxis are really cheap in Greece, especially if you share the ride (3-4 students per taxi)!
Currency 1.00 0.90 For convenience with money download & use a converter app for your iphone! However, keep in mind that the actual currency rate may be slightly different.
Money Be sure to have cash access in case of emergency! Call your credit card/debit company to notify them of your travel plans. Check international transactions fees. The easiest way to get Euros (cash) is from the ATM at any Greek Bank. Plan on ~ $ 300-500 extra costs depending on what you buy, where you eat, etc.
Money Make and share payments with friends in Greece! You can pay friends with a Venmo account using money you have in the app, or link your bank account or debit card quickly!
Communication Contact your cell phone company to enable international dialling. Your options are: pay as you go or Travel Pass. Take advantage of Wi-Fi!!! To dial the USA: hit 00 (+) then 1. Download WhatsApp. This will be the group chat app once in Greece. Download Photocircle. This will be the app to upload & share photos in Greece.
Safety Be smart be safe! Always be careful, aware & use logic common sense! Do not carry large amounts of cash or expensive items when out! Always keep your cell phone charged (carry your charger & power bank)! Stay with the group, avoid being alone & use the buddy system!

Luggage Knowing the rules of what you can and cannot bring on-board and packing smartly is an important step to make things smoother. Your luggage will be tagged to your final destination which is ATHENS. Take a picture of your suitcase and the baggage claim.
Luggage Carry-on Usual allowance is 1 carry-on baggage plus 1 personal item like a purse, computer bag or camera case. The dimensions of the carry-on baggage should usually not exceed 22 x 15 x 8 inches (56 x 45 x 25 cm) and must weigh no more than 15 lb (7 kg). Any liquid toiletries in cabin baggage must be in 3-ounce or smaller (<100 ml) containers, packed in a clear 1-quart re-sealable bag.
Luggage Checked luggage Most airlines allow for 1 or 2 bags to be checked for free on international flights. The exact number depends on the airline, route & class you are traveling in. Pay attention to weight restrictions! Max weight is usually 50 lb (23 kg). The fees on an overweight baggage can be extreme, it is sometimes cheaper to pay to check an extra bag.
