PROPOSED DAY-TO-DAY ITINERARY TOUR TO SOUTH AFRICA, ZAMBIA AND BOTSWANA NOVEMBER 2-16, 2018 DAY #1: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 02 - DEPART FROM THE UNITED STATES Depart from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) for South Africa on South African Airways Flight Number 208 at 5:40pm. Sit back, relax and enjoy your trans-atlantic/trans-continental flight with onboard amenities. Meals Included: Dinner, Breakfast and Lunch onboard South African Airways. DAY #2: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 03 - ARRIVE IN JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA Arrive at Johannesburg International Airport (JNB) in South Africa on South African Airways Flight Number 208 at 4:40pm. After clearing immigration and customs meet your South African Tour Guide and transfer by road to the Davinci Hotel in Johannesburg for check-in. Take time to acclimate to the South African weather and time zone changes. Later that evening, enjoy a relaxing dinner (on your own) and overnight at the Davinci Hotel in Johannesburg. Johannesburg, affectionately referred to as Egoli meaning the City of Gold, is the economic capitol of South Africa. Afterwards, visit the Apartheid Museum to learn more about the unjust political, economic and social system that was imposed upon Black South Africans (Bantus) by White South Africans (Afrikaans). Later that evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner at the Moyo Restaurant at Melrose Arch. Afterwards, overnight at the Davinci Hotel in Johannesburg. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Welcome Dinner. DAY #4: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 05 - CITY TOUR OF PRETORIA AND LESEDI CULTURAL VILLAGE - After a refreshing breakfast, you will be picked-up by your South African Tour Guide at 8:30am and depart by road to enjoy a City Tour of Pretoria to visit the State House where Nelson Mandela was sworn in as the nation s first Black President. Pretoria is the political capitol of South Africa and is known for its broad avenues lined with Jacaranda Trees that provide a beautiful purple canopy. Afterwards, visit Lesedi Cultural Village to learn about the major ethnic groups of South Africa and enjoy an authentic African cuisine luncheon with cultural entertainment. Later that evening, return by road to Johannesburg and enjoy a refreshing dinner (on your own) from a variety of restaurants located in Mandela Square. Afterwards, overnight at the Davinci Hotel in Johannesburg. Afterwards, enjoy a refreshing lunch at the Mzansi Restaurant in the Langa Township before enjoying a City Tour of Cape Town to include Bo-Kaap and the District Six Museum. VICTORIA FALLS IN LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA After a very early breakfast, check-out of the Commodore Hotel and transfer by road to the Cape Town International Airport (CPT). Depart on South African Airways Flight Number 304 at 6:10am for Johannesburg. Arrive at Johannesburg International Airport (JNB) Domestic Terminal at 8:10am and transfer to the International Terminal. Proceed through immigration and customs and depart on South African Airways Flight Number 048 at 10:40am for Victoria Falls located in Livingstone, Zambia. Sit back, relax and enjoy your brief flight with onboard amenities. Arrive at Livingstone International Airport (LVI) in Livingstone, Zambia at 12:30pm and after clearing customs and immigration meet with your Zambian Tour Guide. Afterwards, transfer by road in an air-conditioned motorcoach to the Zambezi Sun Hotel for check-in and an orientation lunch (on your own by the poolside) before enjoying the remainder of the day at your leisure. Victoria Falls from the Zambia side where you can view one of the natural wonders of the world from a very close proximity. Victoria Falls is affectionately referred by the indigenous people the Leyas as Shungu Namutitima and the Kololos as Mosi oa Tunya which means Smoke That Thunders. After a relaxing lunch (on your own) enjoy an opportunity for a Rhino Walking Safari in Victoria Falls National Park, which offers you a limited walking excursion to possibly see a rhinoceros up close and personal. Afterwards, enjoy a delicious buffet dinner and an overnight at the Zambezi Sun Hotel in Livingstone. Note: Please remember to pack you carry-on luggage for the overnight excursion to Botswana. Meals Included: Breakfast and Dinner. DAY #12: TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 13 - EXCURSION TO CHOBE NATIONAL PARK After an early breakfast, depart for an excursion to Chobe National Park in Botswana. Transfer from the Zambezi Sun Hotel in a 4X4 safari vehicle for a border crossing from Zambia into Botswana. After clearing customs and immigration, enjoy a refreshing lunch before departing on an afternoon boat cruise on the Chobe River. See fantastic wildlife such as elephants, hippopotamus, water buffalos, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, wildebeest, warthogs, crocodiles and an abundance of birds along the waterfront. DAY #13: WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14 - DEPART CHOBE NATIONAL PARK AND RETURN TO LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA Enjoy an early morning game drive in the Chobe National Park. See fantastic wildlife such as elephants, water buffalos, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, wildebeest, warthogs, crocodiles and an abundance of birds. Return to the Chobe Marina Lodge for a refreshing breakfast and check-out. Afterwards, transfer by 4X4 safari vehicle for border crossing from Botswana back into Zambia with a picnic lunch included. Later that evening, enjoy a Traditional Boma (Farewell Dinner) with cultural entertainment. The Boma provides a unique cultural experience that bombards the senses with the tastes, sights, sounds and smells of Africa - together with the warmth and hospitality of Zambia and its people. The Boma is also partly open to the spectacular African night skies and includes a feast of nightly entertainment incorporating traditional dancers and singers. Guests are welcomed with a traditional greeting in the local languages. They are also invited to take part in a hand washing ceremony before sampling traditional beer and snacks, as a prelude to dinner. Specializing in a superb selection of traditional Zambian dishes served on cast iron plates, the Boma offers a fourcourse meal combining a choice of starters with a barbeque buffet. Everyone s tastes are catered to and while the adventurous are enticed with local delicacies such as mopani worms and game stews, those wishing to enjoy beef, pork, fish and chicken or a variety of vegetarian meals are welcome to do so.
