GRAND OPENING OF OLD POINT NATIONAL BANK S NEW CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS May 2, 2014, Hampton, VA Old Point National Bank is proud to announce the official grand opening of our new Corporate Headquarters in downtown Hampton on Thursday, May 8 th, 2014 at 8:30am. This event will celebrate a multi-year vision to enhance Old Point s presence in the Hampton Roads region and allow for future expansion. Banking Built on Excellence Located at 101 E. Queen St., Old Point s six-story, 54,000 square foot headquarters was designed in a style evocative of early 20 th century architecture. This expansion, which includes a full-service branch as well as the regional headquarters, brings over 60 corporate employees to downtown Hampton. Old Point will convert the former headquarters, which includes five buildings in Phoebus, into the Old Point Operations Center. Lyall Design, a Norfolk-based firm served as the project s architect and Henderson, Inc., a firm headquartered in Williamsburg, as the general contractor. Old Point opened for business at a counter inside Cooper s confectionery store in Phoebus in 1923 and we have grown substantially since then, said Robert F. Shuford, Chairman and President of Old Point Financial Corporation. Extending our corporate presence to downtown Hampton as well as in Phoebus is part of the bank s ongoing expansion strategy. When the project was announced in 2010, former Hampton Mayor Molly Joseph Ward said, Old Point s commitment to Hampton is an important asset for the city. We encourage this kind of project, which contributes tax revenues, sustains high-quality employment, and enhances the City as a business, social, and cultural hub. Mr. Shuford added, We re proud to add Old Point s signature to downtown Hampton s skyline with our new headquarters.

Archeological Dig In the summer of 2010, Old Point National Bank invested in an archaeological excavation prior to breaking ground. Bank executives said Old Point s belief in the importance of history led them to undertake the project, which was not required by regulation. These efforts led to Old Point being recognized as the 2011 Best Sustainable Project by Virginia Business Magazine. Old Point contracted the James River Institute for Archaeology to study the half-acre site. The firm s preliminary research indicated that structures were located on the property from as early as the first part of the 18 th century, with subsequent owners until Old Point s downtown branch was built in 1971. During the dig, members of the public and employees assisted in washing, tagging, and documenting the artifacts being unearthed. Our own history is intertwined with Hampton s and we take great pride and interest in preserving this heritage, said Old Point National Bank President & CEO Louis G. Morris. Ultimately, archeologists found more than 1,000 archaeological features, including a structure from the early 18th century, three wells, a cellar, and a refuse pit that may date to the 17th century. All of the artifacts have been cleaned and cataloged for preservation. A selection of the artifacts is currently on display in our new Corporate Headquarters and others will be donated for exhibit. In 2011, Old Point was also awarded the Outstanding Preservation Research Effort by Preservation Virginia, a private non-profit organization and statewide historic preservation leader. The award celebrated the bank s extraordinary investment in historic preservation research with a voluntary archaeological investigation that documented hundreds of colonial and 19thcentury features. Groundbreaking On June 3, 2011, the public was invited to attend Old Point s Groundbreaking event, which coincided with the start of the annual Blackbeard Pirate Festival and the City of Hampton s 400 th Anniversary. During that time Louis Morris said, Knowing that our new headquarters will stand in a place tied to Hampton s early days as a thriving seaport makes this event even more special. We re delighted to be turning the first shovel for our company s biggest-ever construction project during the city s annual celebration of its seafaring heritage.

Topping Out On March 27, 2013, Old Point National Bank proudly announced that the steel construction of the six-story building was complete. Old Point and Henderson, Inc. held a traditional topping out celebration on site to commemorate the placement of the final steel beam. The beam was signed by members of Old Point Financial Corporation s Board of Directors, the Chairman of Old Point Financial Corporation, Robert F. Shuford, and the Bank s President and CEO, Louis Morris. Applause resonated as workers carefully lifted the ceremonial beam into place with an American flag atop to signify the completion of the steel structure. The Exchange Club of Downtown Hampton presented Henderson, Inc. with the Proudly We Hail award for their ongoing efforts of flying the American flag on top of Old Point s new Corporate Headquarters. Open for Business On February 24, 2014, Old Point National Bank opened the Downtown Hampton branch on the first floor of the new Corporate Headquarters. Over the last two months, the 2 nd and 3 rd floors have filled with employees from our Commercial Lending, Private Banking, Corporate Banking, Treasury Services, Merchant Services, Finance, and Marketing departments. The 5 th floor serves as the Executive s suite and features a beautiful corporate board room and separate casual meeting area. The 6 th floor, the Roof Top Garden facility, is an indoor/outdoor meeting space with breathtaking views of downtown Hampton and the 4 th floor allows for future growth. The Grand Opening on May 8 th, 2014 celebrates the completion of the entire building as Old Point begins to refocus expansion efforts into our Phoebus campus Operational Center. Details of the Building BUILDING DESIGN: The skin of the building is precast with a brick inlay. The precast was formed, poured, and set in a plant in North Carolina and then shipped in large pieces to the site. The precast has metal plates that were cast into forms and attached to the building by welding the plates to the steel structure. This method allowed Old Point to completely enclose the building within 30 days, so weather would not impact the timeline of completion. VAULT DOOR: Old Point incorporated a piece of its own history into the headquarters by installing the 12-ton polished steel vault door that served at its first location. As an interesting note, the historic door was considered used when Old Point purchased it in 1924. RECYCLING: Reuse, recycling, and environmentalism are also important to the project. The wood, asphalt, brick and concrete debris generated by the original Downtown Hampton branch demolition were sent to a recycling

center. LEED ELEMENTS: The new building meets the following elements of LEED certification, including Construction Activity Pollution Prevention, Environmental Site Assessment, Fundamental Commissioning of the Building Energy Systems, Minimum Energy Performance Required, Fundamental Refrigerant Management, Storage and Collection of Recyclables, Minimum Indoor Air Quality Performance, Environmental Tobacco Smoke Control, and Minimum Acoustical Performance. ARTIFACT DISPLAY: On the first floor of the Corporate Headquarters, Old Point designed an exhibit highlighting the accomplishments of the archeological dig. Several of the pieces discovered are on display, accompanied by a series of pictures and narratives illustrating the process, the finds, and the history behind the efforts. OTHER FUN FACTS: Overall square footage: 54,157 (1 st 8,972, 2 nd 5 th 10,647/each, and the 6 th floor is 2,597) The building height from the 1 st floor to the 6 th floor is 91-2 The structural steel frame required 30 tons of steel and the decking on each floor required 40 tons of steel. The architectural precast concrete used 1,087 cubic yards of concrete. Approximately 7 miles of conduit and 30 miles of wire and cable were used on this project. The building has 610 receptacles and 1,043 light fixtures. The generators are over 11 long and weigh 5 tons each. The main electrical switchboard for the building is almost 18 long! WEB CAM: Watch the progress from start to finish online via Henderson s live webcam at www.hendersoninc.com/oldpoint. Old Point has locations stretching from Williamsburg to Virginia Beach and is committed to helping our community prosper through support of over 300 Hampton Roads charitable organizations. Our employees live, work, shop, and celebrate in the footprint in which we serve, and we pride ourselves on creating a better community, every day.
