BANGKOK TO TRAT BY AIR CONDITIONED BUS Dear guests, To facilitate your trip to Koh Chang and to the ISLAND VIEW RESORT we would like to give you a few tips: GPS Pos. Island View Resort & SPA. N 11 58,8' E 102 22,6' During the last years Koh Chang has become a major tourist attraction. This resulted in a considerable improvement of the infrastructure. Two car/passenger ferries are available, one at Ao Thammachart, (Koh Chang Ferry) the closest to the airport and one close to Laem Ngnop (Centrepoint ferry, the closest to Trat and most suitable for the bus traveler). The Ekamai Bus Terminal in Bangkok is the main terminal for the eastern provinces including Trat and Koh Chang. It is located at the Ekamai section of Sukhumvit Raod which is easily accessible by the BTS Skytrain.(Ekamai Station) Air conditioned buses depart almost every hour. The trip takes about 5 hours. Insist on a bus to Trat and not to the ferries if you want to take the inexpensive minibus for 140 Baht inclusive ferry directly to our resort. For our guests who want to take the above mentioned minibus we recommend to arrive at Trat not later than 12:30 p.m., departure at Ekamai is recommended at 06:00 a.m. Once you arrive at the Trat bus station take the Baht Taxi (Songthaew) to Trat down town. The taxis stop at the market close to the Trat Department Store. There is a KFC "Kentucky Fried Chicken" restaurant in the Department Store. The mini bus is parked behind the Trat Department Store on a large parking lot, close to a temple. The mini bus leaves at 12:00 a.m. The driver will take you to Rong Than (via Salak Phet) and stop at a large parking lot, from there it is only a short walk to the ISLAND VIEW RESORT. The price for the mini bus including ferry ticket is 140 Baht only. Some buses from Bangkok take you directly to one of the two ferry piers, either Centre Point Ferry or Koh Chang Ferry at Ao Thamachat. The Centre Point ferry takes you to the Dan Gau pier at Koh Chang, the Koh Chang Ferry takes you to the Ao Saperot pier. If you miss the mini bus to the Island View Resort, take a Baht taxi (Songthaew) to the Centerpoint ferry. The Taxis are parked on the corner of the street opposite the The Trat Department Store. (There is a pharmacy on that corner) Take the taxi to the Centrepoint ferry. (Taxi about 40 to 50 Baht) The ferries leave every full hour. The last ferry at 07:00 p.m. If you can catch the ferry at 02:00 p.m you can enter the minibus on the ferry. Please make sure, you know the name of the ferry before you call us, in order to prevent confusion. (Centerpoint Ferry or Koh Chang Ferry) If we order a taxi for you, the price will be about 500 Baht. This is considered expensive already, but the tax drivers claim that they have to drive back without passengers. Your will meet the taxi at the mainroad (about 100 meter from the Ferry) at a red postel letter box. If you look for a taxi yourself the price will be about 1000 Baht or even more which is too expensive, but it is impossible to break the system of price control of the local taxi drivers. The SIM card offers you for 100 Baht free calls in Thailand and special low rate for international calls. In addition a 7 days unlimited 3G internet access for your Smart Phone. The SIM card is available in the Airport arrival hall at the local service providers: Dtac, AIS and True. Top up at many shops such as 7Eleven.
To Koh Chang by Air The new airport, more than 30 kilometer away from Trat but only 15 kilometer from the Koh Chang ferry and 20 kilometer away from the Centre point Ferry, serves mainly the tourists heading for Koh Chang. (Contact: www.bangkokair.com) The Airport provides a bus service to Koh Chang. Please refer to the respective counter upon arrival at Trat airport. Once you are on the ferry please give us a call, thus to enable us to assist you for a reasonably priced Taxi. From ferry to the Island View Resort by Car Upon arrival at Koh Chang by ferry, please proceed to the main road and turn left. After about 20 Km you have to turn right at a junction. See picture below. If you miss this junction and you arrive at a temple on the right hand side (fishing village Salak Phet), please turn back to the obove junction and turn left. After about 3 Km you arrive at the Home Stay village Rong Than. Park your car at a big public parking lot, and follow the trail (Soi 10) about 200 m to the Island View Resort.
Mini Bus from Trat, directly to the Island View Resort For only 140 Baht/Person incl.
