Level 10, 22 Market Street Sydney, NSW 2000 P 02 8297 1200 F 029262 6705 nsw@lgprofessionals.com.au www.lgprofessionals.com.au 11 April 2014 For immediate release NSW councils recognised for excellence Councils across New South Wales were recognised for their excellence and innovation in local government at the Local Government Professionals Australia, NSW LG Awards Dinner held at The Westin in Sydney last night. We were very impressed with the calibre of entries this year, particularly the winning entries. It is not often that you hear councils being described as innovative and leading organisations. These entries are a testament that councils can punch above their weight and demonstrate that they can be at par with leading private sector companies, said Annalisa Haskell, Chief Executive Officer, Local Government Professionals Australia, NSW. The Local Government Management Excellence Awards is an annual programme that recognises councils who demonstrate excellence and innovation. This year, Local Government Professionals Australia, NSW received record-breaking nominations across ten categories. The nominations we received pretty much represented the entire local government. There were winning entries from small regional councils all the way to big metropolitan councils, showing that innovation and excellence can come from anywhere and you don t always need a huge financial investment to make an impact. Often at times, all it takes is to listen and be open to new ideas and find ways to work with other organisations who may have more resources than you, Ms Haskell said.
The Local Government Management Excellence Awards were proudly sponsored by Blackadder Associates, CAMMS, CIVICA, Local Government Super, PwC and SR Law. Also recognised at last night s event were Griffith City Council, winner of the inaugural NSW Rural Management Challenge and Warringah Council winner of the 2014 LGMA Australasian Management Challenge, NSW. Warringah Council will now go on to represent NSW at the Australasian Management Challenge Finals in Melbourne in June along with the winners from the other Australian states and New Zealand.
