8a. Once a year, the Bellagio Center hosts a special thematic residency to bring together a cohort of scholars, practitioners, and artists whose work all connects to a common theme. In 2018, the thematic residency will take place from November 5th to November 30th with up to fifteen residents advancing work aligned with the theme Science for Development. Development challenges around the world are increasingly complex, but the potential for science and technology to realize meaningful change also presents tremendous opportunity. This thematic residency will include a select and multidisciplinary group of residents whose work is advancing, informing, communicating, or is inspired by the use or design of science and technology to address social and environmental challenges around the world. While the majority of each resident s time at the Bellagio Center will continue to be focused on advancing their individual projects, thematic residencies offer enhanced opportunities for residents to connect and engage with a diverse group of new colleagues connected through a common theme. Should you be awarded the opportunity for a Bellagio residency, would you be interested in taking part in this thematic residency cohort? This residency will take place from November 5th -30th, 2018, and selected participants must be available during those dates. 8b.
