Alentejo Wild Coast ADVENTURE COASTAL NATURE DESCRIPTION Walk, look and eat like a Portuguese fisherman on the coast What does it mean to be on the coastline of Alentejo? Discover a wild, scrubby expanse of low hills and wave-pounded cliffs. There is an unnerving stillness to the landscape, but that stillness ends abruptly at the Atlantic Ocean. This program will take you through a remarkable trail along the south coast of the country, where you discover autochthone nature, fishing villages and wonderful beaches. To travel here is to step back in time 40 or 50 years. Life rolls along at a treacly pace, the simplicity and quietness of the lifestyle make us want to stay here forever. THE ITINERARY DAY 1 ARRIVAL On arrival day our guide will welcome you and drive towards Vila Nova de Mil Fontes, where you will enjoy your accommodation for the next two nights. Today you might enjoy a perfect sunset by the beach, a delicious fresh fishmeal or a night drink in a pub. The landscapes are endless, the weather is warm and the silence never sounded better. Welcome to Alentejo! ACCOMODATION Casa do Adro DAY 2 PORTO COVO to V. NOVA DE MIL FONTES Get ready for your first day because it will be long, however it will bring you a rewarding experience. It starts with a short transfer to the picturesque village of Porto Covo, going by coastal scenic views parallel with the Atlantic, you will see island of Pessegueiro from the beach where there is a tween fortress in ruins. The highlight of the day might be hiking through Aivados and Malhão beach and feel free to jump barefoot through golden perfect dunes. And this is just the first day! ACCOMODATION Casa do Adro HIKE 19 Km; + 300 m DAY 3 V. NOVA DE MIL FONTES to ALMOGRAVE Your adventure starts to go south, crossing the river Mira and pass some agricultural areas. On taking part of this experience, you will be invited to experience the nature with your deepest senses. Over the place where the river meets the ocean, get inspired by wonderful views of the Mediterranean plants, herbs and their smells. Also roam free as the birds species over your head, count dozens of storks nests on the rocks and finally arrive in Longueira beach. Today have a good rest. ACCOMODATION Monte Novo da Longueira HIKE 13 Km; + 200 m
DAY 4 ALMOGRAVE to TOURIL The hike today will take you to the old lighthouse of Cape Sardão, illuminating adventure sailors since 1915. the magnificent view will astound you while invite to the perfect connection between ocean and land. On your way pass through beautiful points as the fishing port of Lapa das Pombas where they still use traditional techniques and the beach of Almograve. This experience will make you want to leave safe harbor, but only to take shelter on the lovely Touril Guest House. ACCOMODATION Herdade do Touril HIKE 21 Km; + 350 m DAY 5 TOURIL to BREJÃO After a delicious breakfast, another brilliant day of shaped cliffs, desert beaches and unforgettable golden colors. Heading first to the town of Zambujeira do Mar you will not be disappointed with the track. Go back in time when you meet Entrada da Barca, a local fishing port and be delighted with the empty coast leading you to desert places with nearly no access. Explore! In the end of the day enjoy a delicious fishmeal of the local fish such as sea bass, sea bream or grey bream, at Brejão. ACCOMODATION Casa da Seiceira HIKE 15 Km; + 350 m DAY 6 BREJÃO to ODECEIXE It is a journey through time, local culture and nature trails. The sound of the ocean is magic. The smell is fresh. The rocks are engraved with signs of time and the birds remember how life can be so simple. As you reach Odeceixe cross the river which separates the two southernmost regions of Portugal, Alentejo and Algarve.
