Walking towards the top of the woodland you will pass plantations of flourishing trees before reaching the summit which has views out towards the Peak District. Ideal for walking, cycling or keeping the kids entertained - Phoenix Park has something for everyone. LOCATION From the A635, between Billingley and Hickleton turn onto Barrowfield Road at the roundabout (big Portwest Clothing warehouse on roundabout). Car park is 300 yards on the right.

BENTLEY Bentley Community Woodland s unique 12 hectare wetland is an important feature of the site, hosting a variety of wildfowl and seasonal migrants. Its mixture of deciduous and coniferous woodland offers colour and variety throughout the year. The 3 miles of trails around the woodland are perfect for horse riding, cycling or just a relaxing stroll. LOCATION From Bentley head towards Arksey on Arksey Lane, take the third turning on the left onto The Avenue and follow to the end where you will find the car park.

KIVETON Kiveton is a site of remarkable diversity. The flat area close to the Colliery Road entrance, which includes the amphitheatre, offers a scenic space for community events and informal play. The adjoining fishing ponds are a magnet for wildlife as well as fishermen. As you cross the bridge and head up the zig zag path to the view point you enter a wilder area where nature thrives. The paths on this part of the site take in both mature and new woodland, natural grassland and diverse wetland. LOCATION From the M1 take junction 31 and turn onto the A57 (Sheffield). At the first roundabout turn left (signposted Wales). Follow the road up until the left turn signposted Kiveton Park. Follow road along to the railway station at Kiveton Bridge. Continue along to a crossroad (just after the Saxon Pub). Turn right onto Hard Lane, the car park is on your right just after the houses.

BRODSWORTH This picturesque woodland is rapidly developing into one of the most attractive wildlife sites in the region. With its mixture of mature broadleaf woodland, newly planted trees, large open meadows and a scenic wetland valley, Brodsworth is renowned for its diversity of wildlife. There are also some fascinating and intriguing sculptures nestling around the 99 hectare site. The woodland allows you to escape from the hustle & bustle of daily life only a step away from your backdoor. LOCATION Follow the A638 (Great North Road) away from Doncaster through Woodlands, after the shops you will go straight through one set of traffic lights. Take the next left onto Long Lands Lane. Follow the lane round a sharp bend to the right. Take the third road on your left and follow to site car park (if you get to Markham Grange Nursery you have passed the site entrance).

DINNINGTON Dinnington is fast gaining a reputation for its birdlife, over 50 species have been seen in a single day. There is a bird hide overlooking the wetland area so you can see what interesting birds are visiting the site. Close to the local community this woodland and wetland area is full of newly planted trees and wildflowers. The woodland is fantastic for an evening walk or an afternoon out with the family for fun and picnics. LOCATION Turn onto A57 Sheffield Road, signposted for Worksop. At Todwick crossroads turn left onto B6463, Dinnington Road, which becomes Todwick Road. Turn right onto Church lane. Follow for approximately a quarter of a mile. The site gate is just before the housing estate on the right hand side of the road.

CUDWORTH COMMON Much of Cudworth Common is elevated above the surrounding area so views over the RSPB Edderthorpre Ings reserves, can be enjoyed as you wander around the site. Keep an eye open for the wooden sculptures which celebrate the site s mining heritage and its new future as a community woodland. Ferrymoor Flash, although separated from the main part of the site, should not be missed when visiting because a fantastic range of wildlife inhabits this small wetland area. LOCATION Between the towns of Cudworth and Grimethorpe off the A6195 (Engine Lane) near Sash Windows. Access can also be gained via the public right of way from the Pinfold car park, Cudworth.

WOMBWELL WOOD This enchanting ancient woodland has a variety of habitats that promote biodiversity and greatly enhance the aesthetic appeal of this remodelled community woodland. The naturally regenerating stands of mature beech, oak and birch trees complement the new community planting. Wetlands and conservation grassland areas provide a haven for wildlife, and the network of criss-crossing paths entice the walker further into the woodland to enjoy and explore this tranquil, peaceful and relaxing wonderland. It s on your doorstep, it s your community woodland, enjoy! LOCATION From Wombwell High Street take the B6096, west towards Jump and follow to the roundabout. Take the third exit onto the A6195 at the next roundabout take the third exit onto Woodhead Lane. The entrance to the car park can be found approximately 100 meters on the right hand side.
