The itinerary Day 1 Australia Hanoi Depart from Sydney for your flight to Hanoi, Vietnam. Fly with either Vietnam Airlines, Emirates, Singapore Airlines or Cathay Pacific, to name a few (subject to availability). On arrival, be picked up at Hanoi Airport and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a seafood lunch before taking part in some afternoon activities such as swimming, relaxing on a remote beach, climbing to the top of a lookout for an amazing panoramic view, or taking a ride on a rowing boat into a secluded bay. The itinerary Day 5 Hue city tour and Perfume River Take a boat cruise on the peaceful Perfume River to visit the Thiên Mu Pagoda and then take a car to the poetic mausoleum of Emperor Tu Duc. In the afternoon, visit the Imperial Citadel and the Dong Ba Market. The spectacular citadel was built in accordance to strict principles of geomancy and houses a series of palaces, ornate halls, libraries, residences and colleges. Return to your hotel for an evening at leisure. Overnight: Hoi An (standard or premium hotel option) Meals included: Breakfast Day 7 Hoi An My Son tour Depart early and travel to My Son, a UNESCO World Heritage site 40km southwest of Hoi An. It was once the capital and religious centre of the Cham people and is believed to be the longest inhabited archaeological site in Indochina. The ruins were built between the 7th and 13th century BC and sit in a valley surrounded by mountains that are covered in thick jungle. Hon Quap (Cat s Tooth Mountain) overlooks the site and its crooked peak is mimicked in the architecture of some temples roofs. These mountains are the source of the Thu Bon River, which is a holy river flowing through the site. Lunch will be included at a local restaurant and at the tour s end you ll be transferred back to the hotel in Hoi An. Day 9 Cu Chi tunnels half-day tour Be picked up from the hotel in the morning and head to the Cu Chi Tunnels for a half-day tour. Vietnamese fighters constructed them during the country s long fight for independence. The network of tunnels that make up this underground city include living rooms, kitchens, hospitals, weapons factories, storage facilities and a command centre. They were an excellent way for the Viet Cong to move around the countryside undetected by foreign troops and were once home to around 10,000 people. After exploring the tunnels and nearby remains of American tanks and numerous bomb craters, drive back to Ho Chi Minh City, arriving in the midafternoon and spending the rest of the evening at leisure. Some tours require minimum numbers to operate Other important information Climate and average temperature The weather in Vietnam can be split by region. In Hanoi and the north, May to October is hot and humid with high rainfall; November to April is cooler and dry. In the far north, December and January can be particularly cold. Central Vietnam experiences hot, dry weather between January and August when temperatures can hit around 35 C; while high levels of rainfall can occur in September, October and November. Southern Vietnam is generally dry and hot from November to April, and warm and wet between May and October, with the highest rainfall in June, July and August. Tour Guide vs Tour Leader Tour Guide: Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction in which he or she is guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour. They do not travel with the group. Tour Leader: An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily Page 8 Vivid Vietnam includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus, however they are not required to have specific knowledge on art, architecture, or history. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and if caught doing so, can be fined. Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when particularly required to enhance the experience of the destination featured. Coach tour Meals: 16 meals are included in the tour.
