Minutes of Previous Meeting Hazel Wainwright moved that the previous Minutes of the Meeting be accepted. Seconded by Geoffrey Cummins. 2. Actions arising from Previous Minutes McLaren Vale, Hills, Valleys & Beaches Visitor Guide stand Philip Tanner confirmed that Geoff Rankine from Aldinga Beach Newsagency has some stands that could be utilised, instead of the Men s Shed Aldinga building one. Current Members List Based on payments attached is the new financial year members list (Attachment 1) De-Registering GST Tony Dutton has de-registered the ABB&TA for GST (Attachment 2). Telstra Country Wide sponsorship Geoff Rankine absent, carried forward to next meeting. 3. Correspondence In/Out City of Onkaparinga released the Onkaparinga Tourism Strategic Management Plan. Refer to AldingaBayOnline website for the link.
City of Onkaparinga released the Community Plan 2035. Refer to AldingaBayOnline website for the link. Overall vision is strong vibrant communities and focuses on five goals: 1. A liveable and connected city 2. Vibrant and resilient communities 3. A prosperous economy 4. Sustainable environments 5. Council of Excellence Next 5 years sees: a. Noarlunga: Revitalising of Ramsay Place b. Seaford: A new main street and town square between the new recreation centre and the shopping centre c. Small business: Building the capacity through the SSBES Centre d. Investment Attraction Plan: which has commenced with the development of the China Engagement plan Aldinga Library community room hire as at January 2014 - $13.00 per hour during library hours - $40.00 per hour outside library hours - Special rates for ABB&TA o $13.00 for 1 hour, regardless of time of day o $20.00 flat rate where 2+ hours regardless of time of day - Must have Public Liability Insurance submitted annually 4. Chairperson s report Messenger article detailing the Federal Government has ceased funding to the value of $500M. Hazel Wainwright to respond to this article by writing to Amanda Rishworth and City of Onkaparinga on behalf of the local business community. 5. Treasurer s Report Geoff Rankine submitted treasurer s report as detailed below (proxy Sonya Martin): Detail Expenses Income Balance $14,390.86 Membership : Apple Solutions - Martin Howells $77.00 Membership : Pamela Longshaw $77.00 Less Outstanding cheque yet to be presented $20.00 Balance $14,524.86 Sonya Martin moved on behalf of Geoff Rankine, that the current banking authority for two signatures be moved as follows: a) any one authorized to sign b) a bank token be purchased at the cost of $20 to enable electronic transactions Seconded by Hazel Wainwright.
6. Aldinga Bay Market Update 18 Stallholders participated in November market. The Aldinga Central Shopping Centre had only booked Santa Claus until Saturday, 21 st December, too late in the season to book him for the Sunday market. Geoff Rankine provided a Santa Claus costume, with Phil Tanner and Geoffrey Cummins, agreeing to identify someone to be Santa Claus. The Down Under Bike Race Market sites rental are at a rate of $15.00. Geoffrey Cummins is currently working on getting a better deal for casual insurance for site holders. The current insurance provider is outrageously expensive at $10.70 per day, with insistence of names 24-48 hours in advance, which is unworkable. Rotary in Victoria provided Geoffrey Cummins with an insurance company that charges $6.00 per day including GST. It may be decided to make stall holders, insured or not, take our insurance for this particular market day. It was unanimously agreed that Zero Waste SA (Attachment 3) would not be a suitable offering at our markets. 7. Strategic Planning proposals Deferred until January 2014, with Sonya Martin reviewing McLaren Vale, Seaford & surround strategic plans to brief the Committee on each area s strategic direction and how this might assist us in determining the best approach and resultantly the most suitable Consultancy. 8. Aldinga Tourism Signage City of Onkaparinga advised we were unable to submit images, they would be managing this process. We were simply to notify them of our preferred image types. Voting cards were distributed to each Committee Member present, with Hazel Wainwright submitting the following results to the City of Onkaparinga: 1. A group of people, with BBQ and car on Aldinga Beach- the inclusion of cars on the beach is a strong point of the committee and is to highlighted 2. People/person bushwalking Aldinga Scrub- kangaroos/wildlife 3. Family eating fish & chips on Beach-cliffs in the background 4. Snorkeler/Scuba Diver Aldinga Reef 5. A person fishing off Aldinga Beach/or on the water- another view of cliffs in the background 6. A person being served by shop owner e.g., home grain bakery in Aldinga (popular community minded bakery) 7. playing sport and swimming on the beach the beach
9. Aldinga Bay online website Martin Howell, Website Manager presented the following: Activation: Content: Website switched on November 29, 2013. Checked as working correctly in desktops, smartphones, tablets The Committee needs to provide more content, this is too large a job for one or two people. Posts needs to include photos, content for blank pages, more links in categories listed. For suggested content: 1. Send text and photos to support@aldingabayonline.com.au OR 2. If you are an admin on the website, add the photos/text or links to the page or post as required. Costs: Traffic: Forum: The current cost for website so far is $150/year hosting and the.com.au domain name is $19.95 for two years. As the member s directory increases and people contribute to content eg posts, pages, forum, etc, site traffic will increase. Committee Members to log onto the Forum Town Talk and add entries to increase momentum. Usernames/passwords were sent in an email to all Committee Members on 21 st November, please ensure you send your personal photo to support@aldingabayonline.com.au Forum topics can be enhanced. Best way to get discussions going is to add entries that of interest such as local markets, the NBN, upcoming events, rumours, anything. Future: It is possible to sell tickets to events through the website via software / link to EventBrite. We can eventually implement a payment gateway to take members payments online. A mailing list / newsletter can also be implemented. Suggestions: Email Martin Howell, support@aldingabayonline.com.au It was agreed that Martin Howell would add a Job Board page to the website.
10. Tour Down Under Update Hazel Wainwright presented the following: Additional Committee support was required on the day of the race, as it was too much work. Ute Annells, Sonya Martin, Steve Manning, Geoffrey Cummins, Roma Howell, Martin Howell and Susan Benger all committed time to being there on Race Day. Marie Millikin of Crystal Cave has offered her time to assist in making the day a success, Hazel Wainwright to make contact. Geoff Rankine to send invoice to City Of Onkaparinga for Tour Down Under Sponsorship to the value of $5,500. Exit is the band that has been booked from 11am 1.30pm Monster Cars has been booked 11. Other Business Membership fees have been reduced to $50.00 as an incentive to increase Membership until December 31, 2013.
