How to get there
From the airport: The journey time from the airport to the centre is between 20 to 30 minutes depending on the time of day however all means of transport take more or less the same length of time. We recommend to take a Taxi to the hotel as it is not very expensive and it is very confortable. However, there are other good options to get to the city center: TAXI AEROBUS TRAIN
Taxi
By Taxi: Travelling by Taxi is a low cost and convenient way to get from the airport to the city center, especially if your trip has been very long and you are tired or if you have a lot of luggage. You will find a taxi rank outside any of the main terminal exits. Terminal 1 (T1) or Terminal 2 (and of the 3 buildings of Terminal 2 - T2A, T2B or T2C). Look for the sign pointing to the nearest taxi rank. The taxis operate all night and there are several hundred of them so you do not have to worry about not being able to catch one.
The journey to the city center will take you between 20 to 30 minutes depending on road conditions. If you are travelling from Terminal 1 rather than Terminal 2, this will add an extra 4 kms to your journey and take approximately 5 minutes more. If you have special needs or need a cab specially adapted for disabled passengers call this number: Tel: +34 93 420 8088 Expect to pay around 30.00 for the journey into the center from T2 and 35.00 for your journey from T1. You will find the rates displayed inside the cab. All official Barcelona taxis are black and yellow and are required to charge you only the value on the meter (Plus any surcharge. Surcharges include a supplement for travelling from the Airport, or to or from the port (not for each suitcase anymore), all surcharge rates are displayed in the back of the taxi). The taxi service in Barcelona is generally very good, clean and reliable.
Aerobus
By Aerobus: Express bus service to Barcelona city center from the airport: Tel: +34 90 210 0104 The Aerobus service is an express bus service that links Barcelona airport to the city center. This service normally runs between 6 and 15 minutes within its fixed hours of operation (see official website for the exact timetable). http://www.aerobusbcn.com/index.php/en.html You can catch the Aerobus from outside both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The Aerobus will then take you to Plaça de Catalunya (there are other stops but we recommend you stop at this one as it is the closest to Hotel Alexandra). From there you can walk to hotel. Tickets to both T1 and T2 cost around 6 for a single and 10 for a return (return ticket valid for 9 days ).
From Plaza Catalunya
Once you get to plaza catalunya there are only 8 blocks (30 minutes) from the place where the Aerobus will leave you to the hotel. You can just walk there following all Passeig the Gracia, which is the most popular and commercial street in Barcelona, or you can take the underground at Plaza Catalunya and stop at Diagonal. From there it is just 5-10 minutes walk.
From Diagonal Metro Station : There are two exits at Diagonal, Passeig the Gracia street (right) or Rambla de Catalunya street (left). Both are fine but you must notice them.
TIP It is important to remember that both Aerobuses for Terminal 1 and for Terminal 2 stop at the same bus stops in the city center. If you are making your way to Barcelona Airport, make sure that you take the right Aerobus. Both buses look the same, however the bus to T1 is the A1 and the bus to T2 is the A2
Train
By Train: Tel: +34 90 210 9420 (International) The RENFE train service runs approximately every 30 minutes to and from Barcelona airport to the city center. Travel time approximately 25 minutes. If travelling from the airport to the city center you can get off at Passeig de Gràcia station which is serviced by metro stops. From these you can change for the Barcelona metro underground system to go to your final destination (closest stop to Hotel Alexandra is Diagonal). Or you can just walk as from the aerobus. On your way back, if you are arriving into Terminal 1, a shuttle bus will take you from outside of the terminal to the train station entrance. Underground and Train fares are around 2 per zone, per way and per person.
