RIVER RAFTING ON SETI RIVER If you are looking for a complete change from the mountains why not consider the option of a two day river raft on the Seti River? The put in for two days river rafting on Seti river is at Damauli about 1 ½ hour drive outside Pokhara. The rafting trip finishes at lunch time on the second day near the road south of Mugling. You will be collected by private vehicle for your onward drive to Chitwan or Kathmandu depending on your program. Our skilled river guides make the rafting easy for guests of all experience levels on a river grade with rapids suitable for any age groups. The rapids encountered varying from light to moderate difficulty depending on the time of year. Floating down the river gives us a chance to see village life along the banks as well as the abundant variety of birds. Seti River Tented Camp comprises sixteen permanent safari-style tents with attached bathroom and veranda. The twin-bedded retreats feature the convenience of reading lights near the beds and hot running water and flush toilets in the attached shower. Coffee and tea is delivered to each tent every morning by the attentive and friendly camp staff.

DETAILED ITINERARY It is our intention to keep to the day by day itinerary detailed below, although there might be some flexibility due to local conditions or other factors beyond our control. Day 1. Drive from Pokhara to Damauli (1 ½ hours driving) and river rafting (2 to 3 hours) to Seti River Tented Camp. This morning we transfer to Damauli, a journey of some 1½ hours through the countryside. Upon arrival at the river start-point, you will receive a briefing about the Seti River and on rafting techniques. Helmets and life jackets are provided at this time. During the winter months, splash proof jackets, trousers and neoprene boots are also available. Drinking water is carried on the boats and is available at the camp. Floating down the river gives us a chance to see village life along the banks as well as the abundant variety of birds. There will be a picnic lunch on a sandy beach on the way to the camp. Today, there are two small rapids of no more than Class Two and are no longer than 50 metres. The remainder of the trip is very much a float experience and not white water. Upon arrival, you will be shown to your safari style tent with beds, changing room, veranda and attached bathroom. Rafting time is two to three hours depending on water levels. Overnight at Seti River Tented Camp (Meals: L,D). Day 2. River rafting (2 to 3 hours) then drive onwards to Chitwan or Kathmandu. The morning is spent rafting and there are five Class Two rapids with each one no more than 50 metres. The remainder of the trip is a float when you can enjoy the surrounding countryside. Rafting time will be two to three hours depending on water levels. On completion of the rafting towels and Sarongs are provided for changing out of your wet clothes. Plastic bags are provided to put your wet clothes in. There is a large changing tent and small toilet tent at the raft end point for your convenience. Your main baggage will be lined up by the waiting vehicle. Here you can transfer your clothes from the raft trip bags. You will be asked to return your waterproof bags prior to your onward journey.
After saying goodbye to the raft crew you transfer by vehicle to Chitwan or Kathmandu. The road to Kathmandu follows the Trisuli River before climbing over the ridge of mountains that surround the Kathmandu Valley. Arrive at your hotel in the afternoon with the rest of the day and evening free (Meals: B). SETI RIVER TENTED CAMP Accommodations are in safari style tents with twin beds and attached bathrooms. The bathrooms have hot showers and flush toilets. Towels and bathrobes are provided. Beds have sheets and blankets. Each tent also has Crocs (one large pair and one medium pair). Meals are served in a central dining hall. Soft drinks and local alcohol are included during happy hour. Coffee and tea is delivered to each tent every morning by the attentive and friendly camp staff. Drying lines for wet clothes are located on the side of each tent. There is a small library where books can be exchanged. Light is provided at night by kerosene lamps and the tents also have solar lights and torches/ flashlights (although we recommend you bring your own too). The kerosene lights are placed outside your tent and on paths. You may wish to bring the lamp into your tent at night. This should however be placed outside your tent before going to sleep. There is no electricity at the camp in keeping with a wilderness experience.
APPENDIX 1 CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT LIST FOR SETI RIVER RAFTING Setting off from Pokhara, you should wear a T- shirt, shorts, sun hat, and sandals. If it is cold in the morning, you may want to wear long pants and a fleece/ sweatshirt over your shorts and T-shirt. Upon arrival at the raft start point these can be put in your waterproof bag. One waterproof bag per person will be provided prior to leaving Pokhara. And please remember your waterproof bag number. Cameras, binoculars, sunglasses, and sun cream should be carried separately to the river. Keep these items with you in the vehicle, as well as your own water bottle, if you have one. They will be stored in the waterproof drums located on the raft. You will be reunited with the rest of your luggage on completion of the rafting phase. Hand sanitizer. We suggest you keep this in your day pack for use after a toilet break during the trek or before eating any snacks. Toiletry bag include toilet paper, soap, towel, toothbrush, etc.
