Get set for a summer of exploration at Camp Juliette and Camp Sinawik! Girl Scouts of Washington Rock Council has been offering day camp for nearly 50 years. We ve been providing lasting memories in an environment that promotes community, education and most importantly FUN. This summer we will be offering our same great day camps with a twist. To celebrate our history we have named our existing day camps after two of our former camps. This summer girls will get the chance to laugh and play at Camp Juliette in Elizabeth or Camp Sinawik in Scotch Plains. Mission and Outcomes The Girl Scout mission will continue to be reflected at both camps, building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. We are going to deliver on this mission by ensuring that campers will increase their selfconfidence, their eagerness to try new activities, and their ability to work with others. Session Dates Session 1 - July 7-11 Session 2 - July 14-18 Session 3 - July 21-25 Session 4 (Elizabeth only) - July 28-30 Session 4 (Scotch Plains only) - July 28 - August 1 Session 5 (Scotch Plains only) - August 4-8 Safe and Secure Camp is a place where each and every girl can feel safe, valued and supported while making amazing new friends. Girl Scouts of Washington Rock Council (GSWRC) is committed to ensuring the health, safety, security and overall well being of all its campers. All GSWRC summer day camps comply with New Jersey Youth Camp Safety Standards and meet the highest standards of quality and safety demanded by the Girl Scouts of the United States of America. A girl/adult ratio of 8:1 is maintained and a first aider is on duty at all times. The camp staff participate in four days of intensive training focused on safety, communication, teambuilding, and program planning. About Our Camps Summer Day Camp Basics Monday Friday 8:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Two locations to choose from Camp Juliette Westminster Academy in Elizabeth Camp Sinawik Jerseyland Community Center in Scotch Plains Facilities Both the Jerseyland Community Center and Westminster Academy provide amazing air conditioned indoor facilities, as well as outdoor space for campers to enjoy games and explore nature. Each camp features a state of the art playground and is easily accessible from many major highways. Meals Breakfast, lunch and snack will be provided at the Elizabeth location. Campers must bring their own non refrigerated bag lunch to the Scotch Plains location, however, an afternoon snack will be provided. Transportation (Scotch Plains Only) Campers wishing to receive bussing to and from the Scotch Plains location may check the box on the registration form. We have two established bus stops, one in Green Brook and one in Plainfield. No bussing is provided to the Elizabeth location. Family Guide Registered campers receive a Family Guide with confirmation of registration. The Family Guide contains complete information on day camp from equipment needs, to safety rules, directions to the day camp location, and day-to-day procedures. Day Trips Bussing is provided for all day trips. A list of day trip locations and a permission slip will be mailed to you with the Family Guide. Camp Fee The camp fee is $150 per session. The cost of providing the day camp experience includes daily snacks, program supplies, presenters and day trips. This fee does not fully support the day camp cost. Financial support from the United Way, grants from outside agencies and GSWRC s general operations fund enable the cost to remain low. Day Camp Open House The Camp Juliette and Camp Sinawik Open House is on February 20, 2008 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Council Service Center in Westfield, NJ.
