MADRID Madrid is a fascinating, monumental, cosmopolitan and lively city: a European domain of history and architecture, the city of museums and culture, and for some even more important home town to the world s most successful football club, Real Madrid! It combines perfectly modernity with tradition and is one of the premier style cities in Europe. The open and welcoming capital is with 3 million inhabitants the biggest city in Spain and the domicile of the central Government with its ministries and administration, and the Royal Family. In 1561 King Felipe II transferred the capital of Spain from Toledo to Madrid, turning the city into the political and cultural centre of the Spanish Kingdom. This can perfectly be seen in Madrid s buildings and monuments dating from the different centuries: Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Neo-classic, Romantic and Modern. A must-see in Madrid is the Royal Palace, the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family even though only used these days for state ceremonies. Madrid is also called the City of Museums: the famous Prado is the nº 1 museum in Spain and one of the most visited in the world. The beautiful Thyssen-Bornemisza museum is the largest private art collection in the world. Another museum, the Reina Sofia National Museum is focussed on modern art, exhibiting one of the most important paintings ever: Pablo Picasso s Guernica. Although the city seems very sophisticated, the Madirleños know how to have fun and enjoy life! The city is surely a paradise for shopping lovers that includes the famous shopping outlet in Las Rozas, and offers an incredible nightlife, delicious restaurants and dozens of bars, movie theatres and flamenco venues. This vibrant city is just waiting for you to be explored!

BARCELONA Barcelona is surely one of the most beautiful and attractive cities in the world. This city is classic and traditional, at the same time modern and fashionable, trendy and futuristic, with fabulous natural surroundings, a nice Mediterranean climate, imposing Avant-garde architecture, outstanding art treasures, impressing infrastructures, and a relaxed lifestyle. Tuesday, March 14 th, 2017 Visit of Madrid s Austrian Quarter including Royal Palace The Austrian Quarter - this is the old part of the city constructed in the 16th and 17th century. We start out tour at Plaza Mayor where we recommend having a walk over the square and the neighbouring streets. Our next stop will be La Plaza de la Villa. On this square, there are 3 important buildings: Torre de los Lujanes, built in mudéjar style, Casa de Cisneros in Renaissance style and the Town Hall. Afterwards we wander through these winding streets to end up at the San Andrés church and the little chapel next to it, where the Patron of Madrid is buried. The church of San Francisco El Grande is also outstanding because of its architecture and the paintings of Goya which are kept inside. The Royal Palace, former residences of the Spanish Royal Family, is an immense (a square with 400 foot sides) 18th century structure, forming one of the most beautiful palatial complexes in Europe. Inside you will visit some of the rooms (not all, since there are hundreds of them); where one can admire beautiful and elegant furniture, porcelain, tapestries, armour and paintings.

Lunch at Restaurant Los Galayos Restaurant Los Galayos is located directly at the historic Plaza Mayor, Madrid s most important square built from 1617 on by King Felipe III. It is a very animated pedestrian square with caricaturists, painters, and musicians and of course the locals passing by. Here, it is possible to have a nice lunch or dinner based on tapas - the speciality of the house - on the outdoor terrace, if weather allows. Otherwise, there are two salons beautifully decorated in Castillian style for 50 and 70 people, which can be combined for a total of 120 guests. Tapas: Spain has a great variety of food and the best way to get introduced to the Spanish cuisine is by tasting "tapas", small portions of different dishes. The locals take them as appetisers, but if you like you can order as many tapas as you wish in order to create a complete meal. Menu will include mineral water, ½ bottle of house wine, and coffee per person.

Wednesday, March 15 th, 2017 Half-day Excursion to Toledo The Imperial city of Toledo is such a beautiful, and perfectly preserved medieval city that the whole town has been declared a national monument. It is superbly situated on a high hill and surrounded on three sides by the Tagus River. This ancient town remains much the same as it was centuries ago, with its narrow, winding streets, little squares and of all periods, mainly 15th- and early 16th centuries, and it has rightly been described as a "museum city". Behind the old walls lies much evidence of the city s history. Upon arrival our English-speaking guides will introduce the most important monuments of the city to us, while walking around in the narrow streets. We will pass by the Gothic Cathedral, the second largest in Spain, which houses many important works of art and an important collection of El Greco's paintings. Our next stop will be at Santo Tomé Church, where the masterpiece of el Greco "The burial of the Count of Orgaz" is shown. The church has a very beautiful Mudéjar tower. We will walk through the winding streets of Toledo in the Jewish Quarter, where we will have the opportunity to visit the synagogue Santa Maria la Blanca, the oldest synagogue in Europe.

Lunch in Toledo at Restaurant El Cardenal Hotel restaurant El Cardenal, situated right at the entrance gate to the historic old town of Toledo, is surrounded by beautiful gardens in a monumental setting. With its different courtyards this art nouveau villa offers a special ambiance. The main restaurant has a maximum capacity of up to 90 people. Montjuic, called Hill of the Jews because of the Jewish necropolis located there, gained prominence in 1929 as being the site of the World s Fair and again in 1992 as the site of the Summer Olympic Games. Here we find the Olympic area (Palau Sant Jordi and Olympic Stadium), and a castle built in 1640, the Palau Nacional. After the visit of Montjuïc our minibus will take us to the famous football stadium Camp Nou, home to the former Winner of the UEFA Champions League, FC Barcelona - it is with its maximum capacity of 98.600 spectators one of the biggest in the world. It was opened in 1957, has a height of 48 m and covers a surface of 55.000 sq m - we ll see it from outside during this panoramic tour. Continuing to La Sagrada Familia, the Church of the Holy Family. This is Gaudí s masterpiece par excellence, although he couldn t finish it during life times, and it is still not finished. But, it is already the most emblematic building of the city, the Eiffel tower of Barcelona. From there we get to the Old Harbour of Barcelona, with its famous Columbus statue. Check-in at the separate hospitality desk in the Majestic Hotel Barcelona. The luggage will be brought separately from Madrid to Barcelona, by truck guests will find the luggage in their rooms after check-in.

Friday, March 17 th, 2017 Monumental Visit of Barcelona: On the Footsteps of Gaudí We will take the guests on a city tour through Barcelona following the footsteps of the city s most influential son of all times: Antoní Gaudí. This outstanding architect lived and worked most of his lifetime in Barcelona, and his footprints can be seen frequently as you wander through the Catalan capital. First of all, we will visit the landmark Sagrada Familia, the Church of the Holy Family. This is Gaudí s masterpiece par excellence, although he died before the end of its construction; it was already the most emblematic building of the city, Barcelona s Eiffel Tower, which will not be achieved until 2026. Moving on over the footsteps of Gaudí, we will reach the Park Güell. From 1900 to 1904, Gaudí designed the Parc Güell, located on the Muntanya Pelada. In 1984, it was inscribed in the UNESCO s List of World Heritage Sites. Continuing down the main street Paseo de Gracia, we will reach the Antoni Gaudí's second masterpiece La Pedrera, also part of UNESCO s list of World Heritage Sites, the Fundació Tàpies, and the astonishing Illa de la Discòrdia, a square hosting four well-known Modernist houses. Gaudí s jewel, the Casa Batlló, is one of the most perfect examples of this style. The house is also located on the elegant Paseo de Gracia. We will not have the time to step inside, but it is still from the outside a real highlight you cannot miss when visiting Barcelona. It is another building of the city that was listed as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. Lunch on your own.

Saturday, March 18 th, 2017 Walking Tour through the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona Are you ready for a pleasant walking tour through the old town of Barcelona? The Gothic Quarter is delimited by Barcelona s main square, Plaça Catalunya, and the world-famous Ramblas. We will walk down this amazing tree-shaded boulevard and see all its newsstands, caged birds, flower stalls, tarot readers and street artists until reaching the monument to Columbus, a 60m high statue in honour of the discoverer of the new world. Barcelona s Gothic Quarter is one of the most extensive and harmonious medieval city centres in Europe, containing the Gothic Cathedral and the ancient Royal Palace. Adjoining it is La Ribera, full of 14th-century mansion houses, occupying the Museu Picasso one of them. To start our visit through the Gothic Quarter we will visit the old gothic Cathedral, finished in 1450. Furthermore, we will get to see the Plaza Reial, the Plaza Jaume where Barcelona s Town Hall is located and many more interesting sights. Lunch on your own.

Optional: Bike & Segway Tour along the Beaches of Barcelona 100 EURO per person This is a different way to discover Barcelona: Enjoy the city during a bike tour! With this event you will get to know the oldest part of the city, the Gothic Quarter and so-called heart of Barcelona. Doubtlessly its most important sights are the Gothic cathedral, the Picasso museum and the Plaza Reial ( Square of the King ) as well as the world-famous Ramblas and the gigantic monument of Christopher Columbus at their lower end. From here we will discover the beaches of Port Vell including the magnificent W hotel which is built as if it was a sailing boat, and down to the Olympic Harbour, with its two skyscrapers Arts and Mapfre towers. Now it is time to get to know the Ciutadella Park, the largest green area in downtown Barcelona. This park is not only home to the zoo of Barcelona, but also to the parliament of Catalonia. Now it s time to get slowly back to the bike store in the Gothic Quarter Another new way to discover Barcelona: jump on a so-called Segways and move onward!
