Thanks for Volunteering at Run or Dye Penshurst Place, Penshurst! We re so happy that you re going to be a volunteer with Run or Dye. This info pack will share all the details you need to make sure you have a colourific experience. Please make sure you read the info pack all the way through. It will answer your questions and give you important instructions you won t get otherwise! Also, before you dive in, be sure to like our Facebook page! If there are any last minute changes or updates, the very first place we ll make them available is on Facebook: http://facebook.com/runordye.gb We ve divided this booklet into five sections: 1. Being a DYE Volunteer 2. Event Day and Venue 3. Your Experience 4. Getting to the event 5. Safety Tips

1. Being a DYE Volunteer: Run or Dye simply couldn t exist without the help of our hard-working volunteers. By volunteering, you get the chance to participate in a high-profile, exciting event...and do your part to help the world become a more colourful place. GET EXCITED, HERE ARE SOME POSSIBLE #DYEvolunteer - Reg Raver - You guys are the Kings and Queens of registration. You will be checking everyone in on the day of the event. - Start Chute DYER - Sending the DYE Nation runners off on to the course to get colourful! You guys will control when the waves of runners get sent and hype up the crowd. - DYE Crew - Throwing heaps of DYE at our DYE runners on the course. You will be placed at a DYE station and it will be your mission to cover runners in as much DYE as possible. - Finish Line DYEdrators - Located at the water station - when the DYE Runners cross the line you guys will be giving them water and DYE-fiving them! - Swag Gurus - You'll be in charge of making our DYE Nation look awesome on and off site. Helping out at the swag store. Hollie will be there partying the day away with all her swag guru's helping her out. - Improv. MC's - MC Sam is the life of the DYE Festival but needs your help to prepare his DYE. The Improv. MC's will be mini Sam's, helping create the DYE Festival atmosphere (A quick note: Although we can t guarantee that you ll get the exact assignment you would prefer, we make sure that all areas are fun to work in - so wherever you end up working, you will still have as much fun as you would in any area!) Our volunteers are responsible for the kind of experience our runners have. Quite literally, you are the heart and soul of DYE Nation and set the tone for the entire event. So bring your sense of humour and love of life, and get ready to have fun!

2. Event Day and Venue Check-In Sunday 5 th of July, at 7:30 a.m. sharp. Please print off and bring your signed waiver with you to the event (located at the back of this document). When you arrive at the event please look for an orange tent with orange flags marked volunteers. It s at this point you will meet you volunteer manager and you will exchange your signed waiver for your official DYE volunteer T-shirt. Course Map Food and Water >> If you are put on a DYE Station you will be throwing DYE at one of the points highlighted. You will have a DYE station manager to take you to your post after you check in. We will provide a bottle of water and a breakfast bar for you. You are welcome to bring food if you wish, but we recommend that you bring as few bags/items as possible with you to the event. The DYE Our colour is completely safe, but if you have any concerns regarding your contact lenses or irritating your eyes you may want to bring goggles or wear your glasses for the event. >> Event Address PENSHURST PLACE, PENSHURST, TN11 8DG We are lucky to have Penshurst Place as the home of Run or Dye! Please respect the facilities. We ask all DYE Nation participants to throw away empty dye packets, water bottles, and other trash. Please remind others to do the same!

13:00 12:30 11:00 10:20 10:00 09:30 08:00 Your Experience All about the event Here s how Run or Dye works: You arrive at the event at 7:30am sharp. You will meet your volunteer manager at the orange volunteer tent where you will be assigned your role and meet the rest of the team. You will then get going straight away! At 9:45 a.m. all the runners leave the event village and head over to the starting chutes. At 10:00 a.m. the first wave of runners are off! Throughout the run, DYE runners will pass through dye stations, where volunteers (that s you!) throw colour on the participants! (Not in their eyes please!) At the very end, there s a huge DYE Festival. MC Sam will be busting out jams, so participants can dance, party, play, and celebrate living life in full colour. But don t worry, there will be a chance to get covered in dye should you wish! You can also get your pictures taken at the official Run or Dye photo area - so that you can post, Tweet, and share that you just had the most fun you can have DYE-ing. EVENT DAY SCHEDULE: PACKET PICK UP OPENS! Participants pick up their packets between 8:00AM until 09:30AM. REG RAVER THAT S YOU! PRE-RUN FESTIVAL KICKS OFF! Participants like to check out our SWAG STORE to stock up on additional DYE. SWAG GURUS THAT S YOU! THE RUN BEGINS! Runners are sent on a first come first serve basis! DYE THROWERS - GET READY! LAST WAVE OF DYE RUNNERS SENT OFF THE DYE FESTIVAL STARTS! IMPROV MCS THAT S YOU! What to Wear? You ll get an official DYE Volunteer t-shirt when you check in, and we ask that you wear it throughout the event so that participants can spot you easily. As for the rest of your outfit, make sure it s weather appropriate. THE DYE FESTIVAL ENDS WE CLOSE THE SITE: Runners head home, and with heavy hearts we pack up the event village. Remember that while the dye is designed to be washable, we don t do your laundry. We recommend that you wear something that you don t mind getting a little colourful. (So hold off on those 100 new trainers). If you have light-coloured hair, or if it looks like there might be a bit of rain, put some leave-in conditioner in your hair before you come; it ll help get all the colour out of your hair when the race is over. Finally, we recommend that you bring some bin bags or towels to put over the seats in your car to help keep them clean after the event.

3. Getting to Penshurst Place By Car From M25 Junction 5, follow the A21 to Tonbridge and leave at the Hildenborough exit. Brown tourist signs will then direct you. From the M20/M26 Junction 2a, follow the A25 (Sevenoaks) and then join the A21 for Hildenborough, and proceed to follow the brown tourist signs. >>Car Park is FREE for our DYE Volunteers: See parking pass at the end of this pack!! CAR PARK << Follow the CAR PARK signs to get to Run or Dye! Public Transport We highly recommend you avoid using public transport to get to this event where possible. This is because there are no footpaths to use between Penshurst train station and Penshurst Place. However, the venue is a 6-7.5 mile taxi journey from Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells Stations.

4. Safety Tips Because we care about your safety first and foremost, here are some things to keep in mind to keep your Run or Dye experience memorable for all the right reasons. - Drink Plenty of Water. Volunteers will receive a free bottle of water, but you might want to bring your own as well. - Common sense when throwing Dye. We want you to have an amazing time throwing Dye, but please beware of people s heads and eyes, young people, service animals, photographers and expensive equipment. - Bring appropriate clothing for the weather and money for additional refreshments. You may also want to bring and apply sunscreen, if the sun comes out. - Please keep your bag with you. Report any suspicious looking bags left on the ground to security. - If You Need a Break, Take a Break. Because of the size of the event, we aren t able to go around and give everyone an individual scheduled break. If you feel like you need to take a minute to rest or nip to the toilet, please inform your captain or another volunteer. We ask that you just don t leave the area. If you need to leave, please inform your captain. - No Smoking. This is to reduce fire risk. If you need to leave the venue to smoke please notify staff or your volunteer captain. - Managing aggressive behaviour. It is extremely unlikely that you will experience this from Run or Dye participants. But if you do, manage this a best you can or call for assistance to your captain or security if necessary. - Injury or Illness. The First aid tent will be located in the event village area. - Fire! You will be shown evacuation locations in your pre event briefing. WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AT RUN OR DYE! #DYEvolunteer #runordyeuk
