Full Day Tour with Goldrush Tours This tour is a great introduction to the city of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, exploring architecture of the 1890 s. Visit the Superpit, one of the largest open pit gold mining operations in the world. Tour also includes Hannans North Tourist Mine where you can climb aboard a 793C dump truck and try your hand at gold panning as well as many other attractions. DAY 2: Afternoon Activity Duration Cost Have dinner on Hannan s Street at The Palace Hotel Balcony Restaurant In the late 1890 s, Kalgoorlie s streets were a flurry of construction and development as the wealth generated in the gold mines was flaunted in grand and impressive architecture. The Palace Hotel, built in 1897, and designed to be the most luxurious hotel outside of Perth, stood tall amongst them and continues to be a landmark building in Kalgoorlie. One of the Palace Hotel s regular guests in its early days was Herbert Hoover, who as a 22 year old US mining engineer worked in the Goldfields for several years. During this time he reportedly fell in love with a barmaid at the hotel before leaving to marry his college sweetheart and continue his mining career in China, before rising to take the American Presidency in 1929. The elaborately carved mirror which stands in the foyer of the hotel was his parting gift to the Hotel where he spent much of his time when he was in Kalgoorlie. 2 hrs $60 The Golden Outback is a vast and diverse region, spanning across 54% of Western Australia. It stretches from the rugged red earth in the north, to the snow-white beaches in the south. A snorkelers paradise, Coral Bay boasts calm, protected waters and hundreds of fish and coral species. Here, the reef spans two kilometres from the shore - an endless source of marine life. To explore further out, take a glassbottom boat trip or join a snorkelling tour. Spend the evening watching the sunset and dining at one of Coral Bay s great restaurants.
