SACRED CONNECTIONS THE SACRED TRIANGLE Tuesday May 1 st to Thursday May 10 th 2018 Join Lisa and Christine as they guide you through the beautiful sacred sites, spectacular scenery and spirit Greece has to offer. We will embark on a journey of self-discovery and adventure whilst creating a sacred space that will support us on our evolutionary journey. On this trip we will visit many beautiful places whilst focusing on the sites that form the Sacred Triangle between The Acropolis, Temple of Aphaia and Sounion. The Isosceles triangle that is formed between these three sites is symbolic of the divine, usually symbolizing the three forms of Deity, or the beginning, the middle and the end. As we travel together Lisa and Christine will share teachings and group talks focusing on Evolutionary Astrology and the energy of the sacred sites we will be visiting.
DAY ONE - Tuesday May 1 st ATHENS Today we check in to beautiful and centrally located HERMES HOTEL, Athens. We meet as a group at 6.30pm for drinks and nibbles and then we all go to dinner in the Plaka. This is a lovely night to connect with other members of the group and enjoy the Plaka and Greek cuisine. Tomorrow our Journey begins. DAY TWO Wednesday May 2 nd ATHENS AND NAUPLION
We will meet after breakfast to walk together to the Acropolis, one of the most renowned and sacred sites in Greece. This is the first part of the Sacred Triangle that we will be exploring on this trip. The Sacred Triangle includes the Parthenon, the Temple of Aphaia and the Temple of Poseidon. The Sacred Triangle is an isosceles triangle, which means it has two equal sides. The triangle and the number three are considered as divine symbols of the deity-beginning, middle and end. The Parthenon is the temple that was built to honor the Greek Goddess Athena, patron of Athens. When Athens was at the peak of its power in the 5th century BC, known as the Golden Age, the Parthenon was constructed. It is a Doric style temple. After experiencing the energy of this site we will make our way back to the HERMES HOTEL where we will board our private bus to Nauplion, stopping to view the Corinth Canal on the way. When we arrive in Nauplion we will settle into our room at THE ATHENA HOTEL, Then the evening is yours to explore the old capital of Greece NAUPLION.
DAY 3 Thursday 3 rd May EPIDAURUS Today we take the bus to the ancient site of Epidaurus in the Peloponnese region. This is believed to be the birthplace of Apollo s son Asclepius, the healer. It was known as a healing sanctuary situated 8kms from the town and is well recognized for its large amphitheater. The ill travelled to be cured, there were mineral springs to aid the healing process. After our time here we will lunch together in the beautiful township nearby. On return to HOTEL ATHENA the evening will be free time. DAY 4 Friday 4 th May AKRONAFPLIA FORTRESS, NAUPLION
Today we take the ferry boat to the oldest castle in Nauplion, Akronafplia Castle. It rises above the top of the old town where once the whole city existed within its walls. Parts of the castle were built in the Bronze Age and some of these walls still remain in the western part of the castle. It was later extended by the Roman, Franks, Venetian and Turks. The view from the castle is spectacular to the northern parts of the city, towards the bay, south to Arvanitia Beach and the mountains of Arcadia. On return the rest of the afternoon is free time to explore Nauplion. DAY 5 Saturday 5 th May AEGINA After breakfast we travel to the port of Rafina where we will board the ferry and venture to the Greek Island of Aegina. Here we will explore the second part of our Sacred Triangle, located in the Saronic Gulf. Once we settle into our hotel FISTIKIES APARTMENTS, join Lisa and Christine by foot to get acquainted with the township of Aegina, finishing at CAFÉ ENPLO for coffee together. We will then meet later in the evening to share a meal together.
DAY 6 Sunday 6 th May TEMPLE OF APHAIA AND PERDIKA Today, we will visit the Temple of Aphaia, dedicated to the Goddess Aphaia. It was formerly known as the Temple of Jupiter Panhellenius and is a Doric style temple. It stands 160 metres on a peak on the east side of Aegina island. Built 500 BC. For lunch we will travel to Perdika, a lovely fishing village, where we will dine together for lunch.
DAY 7 Monday 7 th May AGISTRI Today we will board a boat to travel to the Island of Agistri. Here we will take our private yacht to travel around the island and explore the lake, town and all that the island has to offer. We will lunch together today. DAY 8 Tuesday 8 th May TEMPLE OF APOLLO AND ATHENS
Today we will meet to visit the Temple of Apollo. The Temple was built in the 6th century on the top of the hill of Kolona and has only one pillar remaining. The Temple originally was a rectangular shape with 11 pillars on one side and 6 pillars on the other. On excavation an ancient century was discovered with many tombs. We say goodbye to Aegina in the afternoon and board the ferry for the port of Pireaus, here we meet our bus to return us to the HOTEL HERMES, Athens. In the evening, enjoy free time to experience the energy of The Plaka, feast at beautiful tavernas and excite the city of Athens. DAY 9 Wednesday 9 th May SOUNION
The morning is free for you to explore Athens, perhaps visiting the new Acropolis Museum, Parliament House, Syntagma Square or shopping for last minute souvenirs. We will travel by bus in the afternoon to Sounion to visit the Temple of Poseidon, the third part of our sacred triangle. Cape Sounion is a promontory located 69 kms south-southeast of Athens at the southern most tip of the Attica Peninsula. This Ancient Greek Temple dedicated to the God of the sea, Poseidon. Lord Byron, the English poet has etched his name into this temple. The visit to this temple is truly breathtaking and allows us time to reflect on our experiences. After making our way back to the hotel we will come together once more to enjoy our final dinner together as a group. DAY 10 Thursday 10 th Time to Farewell After breakfast our journey as a group draws to a close and we all continue our journeys onward.
