Kalat is a project of tourism, research & discovery promoted in Sicily since 1995, which has so far involved more than 1000 youngsters fans, archaeologists, foreign & local researchers in XVII editions of International Summer Camps. After the complete recogni- discovery of more than 270 areas of archaeological interest, since this year Kalat offers a national Summer Camps are now becoming international youth HAPPENINGs. The international youth HAPPENINGs are proposed, in fact, as an exciting new formula of youth tourism & an innovative initiative of local development which combines the passion of archaeological researches -in lands workshops & guided tours, the entertainment of musical moments & the enjoyment of the Mediterranean sea at Licata. This activities -aimed to a touristic & cultural reconvertion of the territory-, are made possible thanks to the support of Fondazione con il Sud gree in Archaeology of the University of Palermo, the supervision of the Superintendence of Cultural Assets of Agrigento & the collaboration of Libera & Slow Food and SOAT of Campobello di Licata & Grotte.
Attività di Ricerca SURVEY Since 2013, Kalat adds, to the value of the exciting archaeological research & discovery, with Libera), with the research of archaeolo- Archaeology enthusiasts. Simple & effortless, perfect for keeping in shape, is an activity suitable for people who can enjoy the charm of discovery that only Archeology can give and at the same time for learning the basics of the discipline. In fact, the participants in the afternoons, walking in the landscapes of the area under the guidance of an expert archaeologist, will proceed neatly in a systematic & controlling presence of archaeological material, which have quickly learned to recognize at the begginning of the week. RECOVERY OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL AREAS Also will be continued the recovery of the Bronze Age necropolis of Iachinu Filì, one of the rural & more characteristic area of the territory of Campobello di Licata. Prehistoric pottery & painting workshops The participants, during the camps, also with the help of local artists & artisans, will produce objects/souvenirs with natural elements, tools, materials and dyes... entirely similar to those produced by prehistoric people... The territory Girgentana goat, the winery production, the chalks, the colture of almonds & pistachios visit the city market. For those who will participate in more than one turn, for the weekend, the organization will suggest short itineraries in some Sicilian destinations, however the costs will be in charge of the participants.
