3rd Neuss Düsseldorf Harbour Day The crisis as the driving force of globalisation

PROGRAMME Thursday, 20 May 2010 Preface The global economic crisis has led to a decline in goods transport in Germany. The sharp drop in demand affects all three modes of transport reducing their activities in 2009. After several years of growth, the logistics sector is for the first time experiencing a decrease in quantity and activity. In previous years, both our sea and inland ports had benefitted from rapid growth. This trend was interrupted by the global slump in the volume of goods traffic. Long-term forecasts, however, predict further growth. As a result, harbour locations need to continue pushing ahead with planned development projects. A wide range of offers has enabled Neuss Düsseldorf s harbours, in particular, to cut their losses quite drastically. Against this very backdrop, cooperations are vital if we want to maintain, and indeed gain, shares in a market defined by increasing competition and a generally less favourable economic setting. 10:00 12:00 12:50 13:00 13:15 13:45 Harbour tour through Neuss Düsseldorf s harbours (Please sign up separately for the harbour tour on the registration card.
