Page 2 of 8 Valid from May 2014 to Apr 2015 HOTEL INFORMATION Distance to Putao Airport 8 miles Malikha Lodge is situated in Northern Kachin State, Myanmar s greenest and most remote state. Access to our lodge is a fifteen-minute drive from the small frontier town of Putao. Formally known as Fort Hertz, Putao was one of the British Empire's most remote outposts. During the Second World War, even the Japanese were unable to conquer this remote and isolated area. Today, Putao remains completely cut off from the outside world by millions of acres of subtropical rainforest and jagged peaks. The only reliable access is by flight into the Putao airstrip during the cool dry season from October to April. Home to a myriad of different cultures and religions, its reputation as a land of old style adventure and discovery is rivaled only by the warmness of its welcome.
