ACC North, Anaheim Convention Center s Latest Expansion Welcomes Meetings & Conventions: On the heels of ACC North s grand opening last fall, planners are utilizing the building s 200,000 square feet of new flexible space in exciting ways. The top level of ACC North is column-free, providing groups the flexibility to create a number of room configurations from educational breakouts to concerts and galas. ACC North s 2,000+ rigging points are giving way to exciting new activations such as hanging a car every ten feet. The 10,000-square-foot balcony facing Disneyland Resort gives a memorable opening or closing night with their magical fireworks display to ring in the evening. Cementing its place as the largest convention center on the West Coast Anaheim Convention Center is now 1.8 million square feet and has joined the one million-square-foot club list of facilities offering more than one million square feet of exhibit space. Hotel NEWS Four Diamond Hotel Development in Anaheim Welcoming 23 million visitors year-round and home to over 150 hotels, Anaheim s accommodation portfolio is expanding to offer new AAA luxury hotels and resorts. Westin Anaheim Resort is Underway: The seven-story Westin Anaheim Resort adjacent to the Anaheim Convention Center will feature 613 stylish guestrooms, including 101 suites, three restaurants, two bars including a rooftop lounge overlooking Disneyland s nightly fireworks, a resort-style pool and a marketplace. The hotel will also feature 11 meeting rooms totaling 42,000 square feet of customizable and high-tech meeting space including a 16,000-squarefoot grand ballroom. This is the first newly built Westin in Southern California in over 25 years; the property is set to open in 2020. Orange County s First JW Marriott Breaks Ground in Anaheim: A JW Marriott is currently under construction, located adjacent to the Anaheim GardenWalk in the heart of the Anaheim Resort district. The 12-story $150 million property will have 466 guest rooms as well as meeting space for groups. Construction began in late 2017; opening expected in late 2019 or early 2020. Luxury Hotel (1700 South Harbor Blvd.) to Replace Anaheim Plaza Hotel & Suites: Located within a mile of the Anaheim Convention Center on the corner of Harbor Blvd. and Disney Way, the 580-room property will have two signature restaurants, swimming pools, 50,000 square feet of meeting space and a lounge overlooking the Disneyland Resort. Construction on the $208 million hotel has not begun. Disneyland Resort Reveals Plans for New Hotel: Disneyland Resort will add a fourth property and first new build in 20 years. The 700-room, AAA Four Diamond hotel will offer many luxury amenities including two pools, a fitness center, concierge service and a kid s play area. Guests will enjoy viewing fireworks at the rooftop restaurant that overlooks the resort. The new location will transform the west end of the Downtown Disney District and anchor a new gateway to the Disneyland Resort. Construction on the hotel begins summer 2018 with a slated 2021 opening. Disneyland.disney.go.com Hotels Planned Hampton Inn & Suites Anaheim Resort and Convention Center: The 178-room limited-service property will stand five stories and feature a second-level pool deck, breakfast room, meeting room and fitness room. The property is located within a mile of the Anaheim Convention Center at 100 W. Katella Ave. and is set to open this summer. Element by Westin: Anaheim s first Westin property will open this summer at 205 W. Alro Way, within four miles of the Anaheim Convention Center. The five-story, 174-room hotel will offer a pool deck with barbecues and lounge chairs, suites and studio rooms, and a fitness center. Cambria Hotel & Suites: The new property, located within a mile of the Anaheim Convention Center at 1721 S. Manchester Ave., will have meeting space, a contemporary bistro called Social Circle, and a California-themed outdoor space with a pool and movie screening wall. The 352-room hotel will open in November 2018. Anaheim GardenWalk Hotels Approved: Westgate Anaheim GardenWalk: Located next to the dining, entertainment and shopping destination Anaheim GardenWalk, a new 392-room timeshare hotel will be built. GardenWalk II: Another hotel adjacent to Anaheim GardenWalk, a 350-room or more property will be underway in the coming years, plans expected by June 2019. Attraction NEWS The Popular Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival is Back: Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival returns March 2 to April 12, with flavors and fare inspired by the Golden State. The burger and beer joint will be set in a casual atmosphere reminiscent of a classic American luncheonette, but with a distinctly New York vibe. Black Tap s menu will include burgers ranging from the classic All-American to The Vegan Burger. In addition, their specialty CrazyShakes will boast whimsical and over-the-top decorations and flavors, such as The Cotton Candy Shake and The Bam Bam Shake. Blacktapnyc.com Star Wars: Galaxy s Edge Brings Visitors to a Galaxy Far, Far Away: Guests will experience intergalactic adventures in the highly-anticipated Star Wars themed land now known as Star Wars: Galaxy s Edge. The 14-acre land will open with two anchor attractions one that gives guests the chance to pilot the Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and another that puts guests right in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Guests will also encounter various characters, including BB8, Chewbacca, Rex and Kylo Ren. Star Wars: Galaxy s Edge will open at Disneyland Park in 2019. Anaheim Brewery NEWS Anaheim s Bavarian founding colonists gave Anaheim its German name and legacy of breweries dating back to the 1800s. HomeMADE Concept Revealed: The latest Anaheim project from Shaheen Sadeghi, the mastermind behind the Anaheim Packing House, MAKE Building, Leisuretown and much more will be HomeMADE. Located across the street from the Anaheim Packing House, HomeMADE will be a funky residential project that promotes culinary artists. Other NEWS Anaheim and Garden Grove Development News Orange County s First Shipping Container Food Hall Coming to Garden Grove: SteelCraft Garden Grove will include 20 artisanal retailers and restaurants, including coffee, wine, beer and dessert offerings, all located in repurposed cargo containers that are 40 feet each. The center will be located on a 1.8-acre lot behind City Hall and is estimated to be completed mid-to-late 2018. Major Hotel and Mixed-Use Development Coming to Garden Grove: SCG America has begun planning a mixed-use development project located on Harbor Blvd. within the Anaheim Resort district. The development allows a combination of up to three hotels, 39,000 square feet of meeting space, 20,000 square feet of restaurant space and structured parking.
