The Sydney New Year s Eve program keeps you entertained from sunset to the final countdown. 6pm and 8pm 7pm 8.38pm 9pm Air displays Flyovers with aerial displays by flying ace Matt Hall. Fire tug water display Port Authority of NSW fire tug blasts tonnes of water into the skies. Welcome to Country ceremony Reflecting our respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage, this ceremony honours the relationship between traditional custodians and the land. During the five minute ceremony, flares are released and spectacular images on the pylons celebrate Eora country. 9pm family fireworks Enjoy a dramatic eight-minute fireworks display at a family-friendly time, complete with soundtrack for children on KIIS 1065 and the full effect of five firework barges and the underside of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Projections and lighting will continue throughout the evening. 9.15pm Harbour of Light Parade An illuminated flotilla of vessels sails through the harbour. Midnight Midnight fireworksßat the stroke of midnight, Sydney s world-famous fireworks bring in the new year in spectacular style. The 12-minute display is synchronised to the soundtrack on KIIS 1065, with the full effect of seven barges, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and four sails of the Sydney Opera House. Each year the design of the fireworks brings surprises and wows millions of viewers around the world.

Pg 5 Plan your night Free vantage points Our map is the best way to plan your New Year's Eve and find the best spot to watch the show. If you're celebrating the festivities at one of these prime positions, make sure you plan your night. These conditions apply at all our free vantage points: No BYO alcohol and no glass. Bag searches are a condition of entry Sites will close when they reach capacity. This is usually earlier in the day, so get there early and have a backup plan Some sites will sell food, drinks and alcohol. Sites will have toilets nearby. Where to drink alcohol You can't bring alcohol into official vantage point sites, but you can buy alcohol at some sites. See the 2017 vantage point map for details. You can also drink alcohol at licensed premises across the city. New Year's Eve is unique, so the lockout laws do not apply. Hotels, clubs and small bars in the city and King Cross will stop serving alcohol at 3am as usual. Takeaway alcohol sales stop at 11pm. Pg 8 How to get there Public transport is the best option for New Year's Eve. Visit transportnsw.info to plan your trip Ð detailed information will be available around two weeks before the event. You can also use one of the many real-time apps available. Visit transportnsw.info/apps to download one today. With thousands of extra services on the night, catching public transport is easy. Some train stations will work differently You won't be able to get off at Circular Quay station from 5pm for crowd safety. You can get off at Wynyard, St James or Martin Place instead and walk. There will be extra trains. If you are on a citybound train and travelling to Bradfield Park and surrounding vantage points, you won't be able to get off at Milsons Point station from 6pm. You can get off at North Sydney station instead and walk. Trains will not stop at International Airport and Domestic Airport stations from 1am to 5am on New Year's Day. Bus stops will change Temporary bus stops with pink signs will be in place throughout the city. When the Sydney Harbour Bridge is closed from 11pm to 1.30am, the last stop for southbound buses to the city is North Sydney station. Ferries will stop during the fireworks Some routes will stop running in the early afternoon. After the midnight fireworks, extra ferries will run. Ferries are a very popular option. Make a plan b and consider the train or bus. Light rail Light rail services run regularly between the inner west and city suburbs. On New Year's Eve, services will run throughout the day and past midnight to help you get home.

Pg 9 Opal cards You need an Opal card or single trip ticket to travel on public transport. Once you have yours, just add value then tap on and off to travel. Adult and Child/Youth Opal cards are available over the counter from 2,100 Opal retailers. To find one near you, look out for the Opal symbol at nearby stores or visit transportnsw.info/opal-retailers Top up your Opal card by downloading the Opal Travel app online at opal.com.au, at a top up machine or at an Opal retailer. There will be widespread road closures The city is no place for cars on New Year s Eve Major roads will close in the city from as early as 3pm until New Year's Day. Special event clearways will make parking very limited The Sydney Harbour Bridge will close from 11pm to 1.30am Anzac Bridge will close for city-bound traffic from 8.30pm to 9.30pm and 11.30pm to 1.30am. This includes residents and vehicles exiting car parks. Taxi and ride-sharing pick-up and drop-off may be restricted Taxi ranks and pick-up and drop-off zones will be different. Cyclists and pedestrians are affected too Cycleways and walkways on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Western Distributor and Cahill Expressway will close until after the midnight fireworks.

DARLING HARBOUR NEW YEAR S EVE Celebrate Sydney New Year s Eve at Darling Harbour. With free flame and light shows every hour from 7pm and fireworks shows on Cockle Bay at 9pm and midnight, Darling Harbour is the family friendly place to welcome in 2018. Plan your trip in advance, use public transport and arrive early! Site opens from 11am and is an alcohol free event. To find out more go to sydney.com

Pg 11 How to get home Travelling home later is a good option It will help you avoid the crowds, so make sure you plan your trip at transportnsw.info Everyone leaves after midnight Extra public transport services will run but trains, ferries and buses closest to the harbour will be busy, so allow extra travel time. Your best bet is to head for transport options at Central which will be less crowded. All city-centre roads north of Goulburn Street will be closed by 11pm and will reopen from 1.30am to 4am while crowds make their way home. If you've parked in the city you may not be able to leave the car park until roads reopen, so plan your night. The way you leave might be different to the way you arrive Some train stations will have changed entry and exit points, bus interchanges will be relocated and some major roads will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians. You may need to walk further than usual to catch a train or bus.
