FUNDAMENTALS EMSA safety report 2016 12 Wärtsilä 8/17/2017 Marintec South America Technologies and solutions for River Navigation

PREDICTORS Todays Predictors - Extrapolating To assist the sailors in understanding and anticipating the ship s motion we have been using predictors for a long time. A predictor is basically an extrapolating tool using: GPS data Speed log data Gyro heading data, including Rate of Turn Kalman filtering for stability of output data The shortcoming is the reactiveness of the technology: A change in environment or operator control input will not show until the effect is noted by the sensors. 13 Wärtsilä 8/17/2017 Marintec South America Technologies and solutions for River Navigation

EXISTING PREDICTORS Smart Predict Managing forces, vectors and inertia Wärtsilä s new SmartPredict adds logic from the DP - Dynamic Positioning system, using the the ship s mathemathical model. In addition to the normal prediction, it takes the following into account Wind direction and speed, with resultant forces on the vessel Calulated current and effect on vessel (including draft) Any operator control input (rudder, thrusters, engines) To achieve this, the DP mathemactical model is used for calculations The benefits are overall quicker response and immediate response to any operator input or environmental change. 14 Wärtsilä 8/17/2017 Marintec South America Technologies and solutions for River Navigation

SMARTPREDICT SmartPredict VS. Traditional predictor Input and modeling Traditional SmartPredict Current Position Yes Yes Current Heading Yes Yes Current Speed Yes Yes Rate of Turn Some Yes Main propulsion commands No Yes Thruster commands No Yes Rudder commands Some Yes Wind input No Yes 15 Wärtsilä 8/17/2017 Marintec South America Technologies and solutions for River Navigation

SCHEMATIC OVERVIEW Wind Aerodynamic Model Estimated Wind Forces Current Heading Hydrodynamic Model Estimated Current Forces SmartPredict Interface HMI Position Position Reference Processing Measured Position Kalman Filtering Vessel s Position & Velocity SmartPredict Controller Engine Commands 16 Wärtsilä 8/17/2017 Wärtsilä SmartPredict Prediction & Control Technologies

SMARTPREDICT Features Intuitive display shows the vessel s predicted future position and heading Continuously updates the predicted path User configurable prediction time Can be combined with Chart Overlay Supports all vessel speeds Can work as Standalone safety system Can work as Maneuvering guidance through the use of a Joystick. Improves safety in manual mode operation 17 Wärtsilä INTERNAL 8/17/2017 Marintec South America Technologies and solutions for River Navigation

SMARTPREDICT Available as: Stand-alone Integrated with Joystick Part of the DP system Display sizes (22, 26 ) Applications: All vessels involved in close quarters maneuvering Cruise ships Yachts Inland Waterway vessels Tugs 18 Wärtsilä INTERNAL 8/17/2017 Marintec South America Technologies and solutions for River Navigation

SMARTMANEUVER There will be two different joystick control modes: Thrust mode traditional coordinated thruster control - thrust is applied in the direction and magnitude of joystick deflection. Speed mode joystick deflection controls speed and rate of turn, where the system calculates forces and manages the thrusters - zero joystick deflection means vessel holds current position. 19 Wärtsilä 8/17/2017 Marintec South America Technologies and solutions for River Navigation

Focus on Pushboats for South American rivers Vessels & sizes Propulsion systems layouts 20 Wärtsilä INTERNAL 8/17/2017 Marintec South America Technologies and solutions for River Navigation

PUSHBOATS - PROPULSION SYSTEM LAYOUT Propulsion of push boats Conventional configuration Diesel engines Gearbox Fixed pitch propellers Flanking rudders Next generation: Z-Drives Diesel (or dual fuel) engines Steerable thrusters (Z-Drives) FPP GEAR FPP GEAR Credits: The Shearer Group - Houston 21 Wärtsilä Wärtsilä 8/17/2017 Marintec South America Technologies and solutions for River Navigation

Threats Opportunities COMPARING TECHNOLOGIES FPP shaft lines Z-Drives Easier initial investment - Slightly less expensive - Well known design Predictable operation - Traditional & familiar solution to many operators - Crews have matured experience Efficient operation - Reduced operating costs - More goods transported in shorter time Simpler construction - Fewer components - Simple hull construction Increased availability - Substitution of damaged units Local regulations (Brazilian navy) - Limit to number of barges more tugs to be built Limited experience accrued Conclusions: Z-drives great opportunity for IWW operators 22 Wärtsilä 8/17/2017 Marintec South America Technologies and solutions for River Navigation
