Rooms may not be ready this early in the morning. This afternoon view Dam Square and the Mint Tower. 30 JUL DAY 3 WED AMSTERDAM / RHINELAND (LUWIGSHAFEN) Breakfast. We drive via Arnhem to the German border and to the impressive city of Cologne to view its magnificent gothic Cathedral. Time for lunch (own account) before following the banks of the Rhine to the village of Boppard where we embark for our scenic Rhine Cruise past clinging vineyards and towering castles (weather permitting). Finally we arrive in our Rhineland hotel for dinner and overnight. 31 JUL DAY 4 THUR RHINELAND (LUWIGSHAFEN) /MUNICH/INNSBRUCK INNSBRUCK (IGLS) Breakfast. Today we drive on to fun-loving Munich in Bavaria to view the Glockenspiel in Marienplatz, Olympic stadium and the Hofbrauhaus. We continue along the Inn Valley and into the Austrian Tyrol where we arrive in the picturesque town of Innsbruck. Your orientation tour of this Hapsburg city shows us the Golden Roof and ski-jump. Don t miss a visit to the Swarovski Crystal factory shop. Dinner ner in your hotel. 01 AUG DAY 5 FRI INNSBRUCK (IGLS) / VENICE (MARGHERA) Breakfast. You head off for the Brenner Pass and an exhilarating drive through the Alps to Italy. The splendid scenery continues as we drive through the Dolomites to the romantic city of Venice where a canal cruise to St. Mark's square is included. We see St. Mark's Basilica, the ornate Doges Palace and visit a traditional glass-blowing workshop for a demonstration of this long-established skill before free time to take an optional gondola serenade! Dinner in your hotel 02 AUG DAY 6 SAT VENICE (MARGHERA) / ROME Breakfast. This morning we drive along the Veneto plain via Bologna over the Apennine Mountains before arriving in Tuscany. Then through Umbria and Lazio to the cradle of the Roman civilisation - the Eternal City that is Rome. This evening, take the opportunity to explore the city's beautiful squares and fountains, and perhaps savour the local cuisine at one of the many restaurants. 03 AUG DAY 7 SUN ROME AT LEISURE Breakfast. Your morning sightseeing tour with a local guide takes you to visit St. Peter s Basilica, one of the holiest Christian sites in the world. Cross the River Tiber and admire views of the iconic Colosseum and the Forum. There is free time later to marvel at the tapestries in the Vatican Museum and take a trip to Tivoli Gardens to see the incredible fountains. Rome is full of wonderful sights, not to be missed! 04 AUG DAY 8 MON ROME / FLORENCE (CALENZANO) Breakfast. We leave Rome to drive through Tufa hills and then into 'Chiantishire' with its fields of tobacco, sunflowers and abundant vineyards. Soon we arrive in the Renaissance city of Florence where after a visit to Piazzale Michelangelo to enjoy spectacular views of the city, you have time on your own to visit Piazza Signoria, the Duomo and Giotto's Bell-Tower. 05 AUG DAY 9 TUE FLORENCE (CALENZANO) / LAKE LUCERNE Breakfast. Today cross the Apennines to the great northern plain and pass by the city of Milan. Head north to the Swiss border passing the stunning Lake Como and continue on the scenic Gotthard route to Lake Lucerne. 06 AUG DAY 10 WED LAKE LUCERNE AT LEISURE Breakfast. Orientation tour of this medieval town on the banks of the River Reuss and the lake shows us the Chapel Bridge, Lion Monument and the onion domed Jesuit Church.
