Chairman's Ramblings So the Big Sheep Show was such a great success (90 cars) that we have been given extra space for next year, thanks Chris Arscott for your organisational skills! Ilfracombe followed on in an equally good way with around 50 cars on display so thanks go out to Glen Merritt. The Rose Ash Revel was well supported by NDSCCC members with the event raising over 1200 for local charities! So here we are in the middle of the show season with a number of successful events under the belt already. With new events coming in thick and fast (Tapeley/EHSC Country Show/Wadebridge Wheels/Coombe Martin etc) it looks to be one of our busiest years to date. Membership is equally healthy standing at around the 80+ mark and that's before our annual recruitment drive at Powderham. You will notice that you will need to identify your club membership number when applying for events and signing in at events. This is for insurance purposes, keeping track of club members favourite events and to literally help cater (tea/coffee/cake etc) for the correct number of members at events. Generic event organisers signing in, member application, and member expense claim forms will shortly be available to download from our website to keep things running smoothly. Finally get out and enjoy your cars and enjoy the social aspect of belonging to your local club...and if you can coax others into signing on so much the better!
The Big Sheep This Year situated on the hard standing car park, NDSCCC at The Big Sheep was a resounding success. There was no sheepdog antics this year we could drive straight in and park up. Some of us met at Dunelm Mill in Barnstaple and convoyed up through Bideford but there were plenty of member present on the day. Of course I had the gazebo and regalia in the van as always so there was tea and coffee available throughout the day.
Ilfracombe Victorian Week Classic Car Show This month we had the annual Ilfracombe show organised by our very own Glen Merritt. One again NDSCCC members took over the prom area. I was there with the gazebo for tea and coffee, however it was a valuable source of shade this year. There was a big turn out with the applications being full up. Some of our members got into the spirit and dressed up in various Victorian outfits. Even Queen Victoria herself came to admire the exhibits. Being that we were parked in the centre of Ilfracombe there were many fish and chip shops and café s to get lunch and wander around town.
Rose Ash Revel First weekend in July meant the annual Rose Ash Revel. With changeable weather reports we were blessed with glorious sunshine! There were a record number of cars this year including a barn find Morris Eight pushed in from up the road up to a more modern Lamborghini Gallardo. There were various prizes given out such as Youngest Owner and Ladies Choice chosen by the hard working volunteers in the village hall serving cakes and cream teas. There were other attractions such as a craft fair and associated competitions. There was even music played by the local band 'Arcadian Link'. Overall the Revel raised 1300 for the church in Rose Ash and for The Devon Air Ambulance.
