PUYRICARD VISIT

Avignon World heritage city Day 3 Avignon is full of history and full of life. Capital of the Vaucluse and the Côtes du Rhône, seat of the popes and city of art and culture, theatre, cinema, museums, big stores and little shops, Avignon is a small city that has everything a big one has! From medieval streets and houses to private mansions from the Renaissance, passing through all its old and enticing squares, some no bigger than a tiny lane... And the diverse dining opportunities, ranging from family-run restaurants, good and inexpensive to some of the greatest Michelinstarred chefs. Avignon invites you for a stay beyond all imagination. The historic city centre, the Popes' Palace, all the episcopal buildings and the Saint Bénézet Bridge are listed as world heritage sites by UNESCO. Originally the forum of Avenio, the city's name under the Romans in the 1st century BC, the Place de l'horloge is still the centre of Avignon. A meeting place, bordered by cafés and restaurants, the square is always bustling. Just like the Place du Palais higher up, a vast esplanade where you could spend the day just watching all the street performers in summer.

Avignon & POPES PALACE Avignon is like the hub of a wheel to all the major attractions and things to do and see Provence offers. You will enjoy a visit of the Popes Palace, a world heritage monument, the world s largest Gothic palace, an intimidating cluster of towers, a citadel within the walled city. The attempt of the French crown to establish the papacy here for good, boosted Avignon to become the capital of Christianity for the most part of a century (1309 to 1377). Still encircling the entire old town, there are the ramparts build by the Popes in the 14th century, kept and restored through the ages because in modern times they are still useful as a barrier against floods from the Rhône. The cathedral, Notre Dame des Doms, with its amazing blend of Baroque and Romanesque architecture inside, the splendid view outside from its doorsteps esplanade, and the beautiful public gardens of the Rocher des Doms some 30 meters above the river Rhone, dominating the city and surrounding countryside with the famous Mont Ventoux in the distance. And, bien sûr, there is the Pont d Avignon, the broken bridge, only four arches left of twenty-two, build in 1234 and destroyed by a catastrophic flood in 1669. It is this bridge that the famous song Sur le pont d Avignon, on y danse, on y danse refers to. There are a number of interesting museums to visit, such as Le Petit Palais, Musée Calvet, Angladon, collection Lambert as well as a thriving theatre festival in July involving the whole city with up to 1500 different performances to choose from every day.

MARSEILLE THE AUTHENTICITY BY EXCELLENCE Day 4 Meet the Provencal culture enjoying an iced glass of Pastis (the anis-flavoured local liqueur) while relaxing in a sunny terrace or playing pétanque, the very popular boules game from south of France. The warm city offers a multicultural and dynamic background as well as an exceptional landscape all around with turquoise blue sea and mountains coexisting, well known in the Mediterranean area as the Calanques. You can visit it by boat on special itinerary cruises from 1h45 to 3hours depending on how much of the Mediterranean coast you want to see. Visit also the lively central Old Port, freshly renew for pedestrian, that gives a touch of modern to the oldest city of France which architecture testifies of 2,600 years of history. From there you can take a 20min boat to visit the isle of the famous Castle of If built in 1519 by Francois 1st. Capital of Culture, lots of exhibitions, concerts, festivals and events of any type will take place in Marseille so you can be sure the city will never stop astonish you with new concepts and artists to discover and rediscover.

DISCOVERY OF THE FAMOUS CALANQUES BY BOAT!

Les dix mille tours Le castellet circuit Day 5 The Dix Mille Tours has been on the Peter Auto calendar of events since 2010. It is an eagerly-awaited rendezvous by the entrants because of the quality of the infrastructures of the Paul Ricard circuit, and especially because of the technical challenge posed by its layout. For the previous eight years, the Dix Mille Tours du Castellet has made its mark as the not-to-be missed event for the last European races of the season. It includes all the grids by Peter Auto, as well as some other prominent grids. In addition to the racing cars, more than 500 collectors cars from all eras and of all kinds sports cars, ordinary machines and luxury vehicles made the event a real open-air museum. Enjoy a day of hospitality including : Access to general enclosure, paddocks & grandstands VIP Parking Access to the Espace Privilège Personnalised welcome with an assigned hostess. Reception: breakfast, cocktail lunch, tea break, open bar Official Progamme

Le castellet & wine tasting Le Castellet is a lovely little village perched above the plains of the Var. Day 6 Arriving on the little road from La Cadiére-d'Azur you get a good view of Le Castellet, as the road across the countryside and vineyards pretty much circles the village before finally climbing up to the center. The "center" of Le Castellet is at the top of the village, contrary to many Provencal villages where the center is on the slope and the top has only a lonely old church or castle. The village retains its fortified look, with sections of the ancient ramparts still there, along with a couple of the old fortified gates. The streets are cobblestone and the houses are old and interesting. The chateau was last rebuilt in the 15th century, and has an imposing defensive feel about it. Enjoy passing by some art galleries and numerous gift/souvenir shops.

Wine & olive oil tasting at domaine de souviou Domaine Souviou tells a story through its many vestiges of the past. A beautiful 15th century chateau ( Bastide ) with a chapel anchors the property. More traces of history are found among the water wells, stone terraces and even bee walls. Many of these ruins have been restored by owner and Polytechnic Engineer Roger Jaar, allowing guests to experience the way of life on the Domaine from centuries ago. In walking among the 75 hectares of the Domaine, you may feel like you have been transported back to the era of Renaissance. Beyond the grape vineyards, the rolling hills full of olive trees and the Roman courtyards, Souviou includes many hectares of untouched woodlands. The dense, virgin growth forest here is home to abundant wildlife. The 6000 olive trees rise majestically above the many hills. When you finally reach the peak of the Domaine, the Mediterranean Sea sparkles in the distance. The placement of the vineyard blesses the grapes with full sunshine, year round, from dawn to dusk. Part of the charm at Domain Souviou is to see the traditions carried on: everything is done by hand, honoring the art of French oil and wine making.

Sanary sur mer Between land and sea Day 6 Set between land and sea, Sanary offers a magical blend of stunning scenery and time-old traditions. The town brims with authentic Provencal charm in the shape of shaded little lanes and squares, old-fashioned "pointu" fishing boats bobbing in the port, ancient stone terraces planted with vines and olive trees and hills fragrant with the scents of wild rosemary and almond flowers Sanary is much more than just a pretty face - it is first and foremost a hub of savoir-vivre and a town with a genuine soul. Hospitality is a tradition dear to the inhabitants of Sanary of all ages. There is a genuine desire to care and reaching out to others here, reflected in the town's genteel lifestyle, many activities on offer and dynamic cultural life. Sanary offers a deliciously warm atmosphere, driven by the many events and festivities taking place throughout the year.

St tropez The mythical village Day 7 Offering an irresistible mix of glitter and heritage, the mythical village of Saint-Tropez remains one of the most coveted holiday destinations in the world. Renowned for its unusual blend of relaxed Provençal lifestyle and richly colourful traditions, this authentic old fishing village also remains true to its reputation as a mecca of glamour, boasting international designer boutiques, a stunning parade of superyachts throughout summer, trendy night-clubs, showbiz stars, artists etc. THE BAY OF SAINT-TROPEZ : AN UNSPOILED NATURAL TREASURE TROVE Benefiting from 300 days of sunshine per year, the Var region's sumptuous natural assets include a 400 km Mediterranean coastline lined with long, sandy beaches, little coves and fragrant pinewoods, breathtaking and varied inland country, and a rich historical and cultural heritage. AN IDEAL SIGHTSEEING BASE Saint-Tropez is ideally located between Monaco and Provence, and the area's most beautiful sights are all within easy reach, less than 130 km away: Cannes and the "Croisette", Monaco port, the Verdon Grand Canyon, medieval hilltop villages, Thoronet Abbey, the "Calanques de Cassis" (stunning coastal fjords), Grasse perfumeries, etc.

Day 7 other option More than anything else, Cannes is a place of golden sands, a perfect bay lined with islands, the ideal location for a memorable experience! WELCOME SHOPPING IN CANNES THE CITY OF THE STARS Not to miss in Cannes: The Cannes Film Festival; It quickly became the quintessential event for film professionals, as well as the annual event with the greatest media coverage. The Suquet & the Old Port Street Meynadier ; This is a pedestrian street leading out of the old town of the Suquet. It is full of wonderful food shops The internationally renowned La Croisette ; In 1850, the Croisette was nothing more than a path running parallel to the sea across sand dunes. The Croisette is now an avenue renowned for its prestigious shops and the luxury hotels that have established Cannes' history, including the Carlton, the Martinez, and the Majestic. Markets; The cool of early morning is the perfect time to take a look around Forville market. The fragrance of thyme, verbena and basil fills the air. The Lerins Isles; they are situated on the south east of the Croisette, at 800 metres offshore of Cannes.

DINNER AT THE RADISSON BLU 360 RESTAURANT The le 360 Gourmet restaurant is named after the magnificent view which stretches from the tip of the Croisette across the Cannes coastline, and its islands in the distance, and sweeps over the old town. Reynald Thivet, the chef and Maitre Restaurateur offers a cuisine which is a subtle blend of flavours, somewhere between passion and wisdom, drawing on the many virtues of food in the service of wellbeing. It evokes all the warmth of simple and delicious Mediterranean cuisine: its fragrances, colours, spices, herbs, and more. Hearty appetites are celebrated with the hotel s characteristic refinement: nothing sophisticated or pretentious, only the pleasure of authentic expertise in the service of well-being.
