N.S. Savannah Ship s Store Merchandise May 2013 The mission of the N.S. SAVANNAH ASSOCIATION, Inc. (NSSA) is to take whatever action is necessary to preserve and protect the N.S. Savannah, a one-of-a-kind, nuclear-powered, cargopassenger ship. NSSA activities include educating the public about the importance and historical significance of the N.S. Savannah and undertaking specific limited scope restoration and preservation activities. The NSSA has no legal standing or financial responsibility for the ship, but it provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the perpetuation of this vessel in many ways. The sale of merchandise by the NSSA supports selected restoration and preservation activities. For example, the benches in Purser s Square, the Dining Room (see picture below), and the Veranda have been restored. Future projects include the restoration of the Master s and Chief Engineer s suites. The NSSA is a 501(c)(3) organization. All profit from merchandise sales and donations go toward the preservation and restoration of the ship. None of the funds generated by the NSSA are used to pay for volunteer expenses.
