RTO Aviation Australia Name Aviation Australia Pty Ltd RTO number CASR Part 147 30770 CASA.147MTO.0025 Course Details Code Title MEA20515 Certificate II in Aircraft Line Maintenance Purpose of Course This qualification satisfies CASA requirements for the grant, under CASR Part 66, of a Category A Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence when the skills and knowledge requirements align with CASA syllabus requirements as detailed in the CASR Part 66 Manual of Standards, and training has been delivered in accordance with the requirements of CASR Part 147. Candidates must undergo a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment during the initial enrolment phase to ensure that appropriate CASR Part 66 Basic Knowledge modules are selected for the category/sub-category of licence being sought (Annex A). Target Group This qualification applies to: individuals seeking the grant of a CASA Category A Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence which is applicable to employees or potential employees of airlines and other operators of piston, jet and turbo-propeller aircraft and helicopters who are required to hold a CASA A Licence to perform and certify a range of specified maintenance tasks that can be performed with the aircraft on a flight line or at the departure gate. On completion of the required maintenance tasks the individual is authorised to release the aircraft to service. Regulatory requirements/ Packaging Rules To be awarded the MEA20515 Certificate II in Aircraft Line Maintenance, competency must be demonstrated in fifteen (15) units of competency, as follows: fourteen (14) units made up of common, imported and technical stream units one (1) unit from Group A, chosen according to the CASA A licence that is being sought. This qualification meets the requirements of CASA for the grant of an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer A Licence provided the applicant has a minimum two years practical experience on operating aircraft and in training.

Assessment Method and Delivery Mode Training Material can be accessed via Aviation Australia s Learning Management System (LMS). Practice questions are also available to self-check their course progress. Remedial training programs are available on campus to support students. Programs are conducted to meet the individuals learning needs. Candidates are issued with a Journal of Experience (JoE) usually completed on-the-job as part of their employment at a Maintenance Organisation. In addition to the completion of a JoE; a member of the Aviation Australia assessment team visits the workplace to assess the candidate in the field. CASR Part 66 The theoretical element of course delivery is in line with the CASR Part 66 basic knowledge syllabus. Delivered in a modular format with CASR Part 66 Multi-Choice-Question examinations as summative assessments. For units of competency that don t align with Part 66 modules (e.g. MSAENV272B Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices), candidates will be assessed through online training courses with work-based assignments or, candidates have the opportunity to provide evidence of competence through the RPL process. Course Length Varies. Candidates post RPL can choose to self-study the training material, or attend scheduled instructor led classes, or a combination of both. Course Costing $1,100 enrolment/rpl/journal of Experience/certification fee The remaining costs for training material and CASR Part 66 examinations can only be determined by RPL and are therefore in addition to the above fee.
