The history of the region is well preserved in cities like Boston, where you can follow the Freedom Trail, visit the site of the Boston Tea Party and trace Paul Revere s famous route, and Newport, which boasts the sprawling mansions of America s Gilded Age. Maine s coast holds attractions from its stunning lighthouses to historic Acadia National Park. And the entire region lights up each autumn in a spectacular display of color.
