Day 1: Sunday, July 15 Welcome to the beautiful port city of Cape Town. Transfer independently to our beautiful hotel. A representative will be ready to greet you and help with your luggage and check in. This evening meet each other, our South Africa expert, and Tour Manager at a special welcome dinner at the hotel. D Day 2: Monday, July 16 No visit to Cape Town is complete without an educational tour of the monuments, statues, landmarks and museums that celebrate Nelson Mandela s legacy. Accordingly, after breakfast we follow the footsteps of this great revolutionary and politician with a guided walk through the Mother City. Afterwards, we head to Robben Island where Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years. Today, Robben Island is a South African National Heritage Site as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This evening, you ll have time on your own at the V&A Waterfront for dinner. B, L
Day 3: Tuesday, July 17 Today, we explore the gorgeous Cape Peninsula, which juts out into the Atlantic Ocean at the south-western extremity of the African continent. We start our adventure paddling the warm waters to learn about the surrounding sea life including an upclose encounter with something truly unique the Boulders Beach Penguin colony. This sheltered beach made up of inlets between granite boulders is home to about 3,000 penguins. Ostrich farming in South Africa is big business. We ll visit a local breeding farm where we will learn about the breeding process of these magnificent birds, from egg to birth. This afternoon, we arrive to the Cape of Good Hope, a rocky promontory at the southern end of Cape Peninsula, and discover the important role this Cape plays in South African history. Drums hold a very special place in African culture. On our way back to Cape Town this evening, we ll stop for a drum lesson and South African cultural feast. Day 4: Wednesday, July 18 Happy 100th Birthday to Nelson Mandela! It is in your hands to make of this world a better place. -Nelson Mandela. It is of great importance to celebrate Mr. Mandela s birth with efforts of rehabilitation, conservation, and education. This morning we have planned a great Eagle Encounter and interactive flying show for the students. Here, they will not only learn about eagles, but many different species of bird life with a hands on demonstration. Parents have an option: to join the students or to visit a few wineries in scenic Stellenbosch. Then, we ll head to the coast for lunch along the beach before a surf lesson, supporting another great cause The Surf Outreach Project. Together, with children from gang-affected neighborhoods, we enjoy some quality time in the waters of False Bay.
Day 5: Thursday, July 19 This morning we take a tour through one of the many Townships in Cape Town. From the late 19 th century until the end of Apartheid, the Townships were designated urban living areas for those of color or nonwhite people. Today, the Townships still exist as underdeveloped neighborhoods where the populations are almost exceeding those of Cape Town, itself. We will be provided a list ahead of our arrival with the necessary needs of its residents to donate. Also, the local children will be waiting for us to play a game of soccer with them! This afternoon we will ascend to the top of this beautiful city via cable car. The panoramic views from Table Mountain will astound. Tonight, we ll take a Cape Malay cooking safari! Day 6: Friday, July 20 Last night we enjoyed a great cooking safari. Today, we fly to Kruger National Park, one of the largest game reserves in Africa, where will embark on the greatest of animal safaris! The Park boasts more species of large mammals than any other African game reserve. Keep an eye open for the Big Five (lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffalo) as well as many other animals. After arriving, we take our first evening game drive to catch a glimpse of the reserve s nocturnal animals.
Day 7: Saturday, July 21 This morning we will get up early and enjoy a sunrise hot air balloon ride over Kruger National Park. We ve enjoyed many busy days in South Africa thus far. It will be nice to have some time this afternoon to relax by the pool and experience the quiet magic of the area. Tonight, we take another evening game drive before dinner at the resort. Day 8: Sunday, July 22 If you re up for it, an early morning game drive will be a last chance effort to catch any of the Big Five you may have missed. Then, we fly to Johannesburg where we will learn about the positive future of South Africa while taking a fun, interactive and informative bike tour through the streets of Soweto. A farewell dinner tonight, will give us time to say our goodbyes to new friends and reflect on an amazing journey throughout South Africa. Day 9: Monday, July 23 After breakfast, you ll make your way to the airport independently for onward travel. B
