VERY IMPORTANT FLIGHT PLANNING INFORMATION For those guests doing the Olivia Pre-Vacation Stretchers, you will need to book your flights into the Buenos Aires International Airport (EZE) on either November 28 (two-night package) or November 29 (one-night package) and then to Ushuaia (USH) on November 30 where you will have an included overnight in Ushuaia prior to embarking the ship on December 1. Your flight from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia will likely fly out of the Buenos Aires Domestic Airport (AEP) which is about a $15 taxi ride from the Alvear Art Hotel. Please note that most flights to Ushuaia from your hometown will have a forced overnight in Buenos Aires. This is due to international flight arrival times into the Buenos Aires International Airport (EZE) and departures times out of the Buenos Aires Domestic Airport (AEP) to Ushuaia. You will start your day off visiting the elegant turn-of-the-century districts that earned Buenos Aires the nickname of the Paris of South America. Stroll down the colorful Caminito Street in La Boca, the birthplace of tango, and a neighborhood that retains strong ties back to its roots in Genoa, Italy. You ll continue on to the charming cobbled alleys and colonial architecture of San Telmo, the oldest neighborhood in Buenos Aires, and along to the Plaza de Mayo, the scene of the May 25, 1810 revolution that led to the independence of Argentina. You ll see the Casa Rosada (Government House), the Naciónal Bank, the Cathedral and original Parliament House, then up Avenida de Mayo towards the imposing grandeur of the Palace of Congress. You ll continue your tour in the elegant district of Recoleta, home to wonderful restaurants and shops. Here you will walk through the mausoleums in the cemetery that are now home to the country s founding fathers and even catch a glimpse of Eva Peron s mausoleum. After taking in these amazing highlights, you ll have lunch at the Piegari Restaurant in the Puerto Madero district, known for the city s best steakhouses. Here you will fuel up with a three-course meal before finishing your tour. Your last stop will be Teatro Colón, the most magnificent opera house in South America, and considered one of the best opera houses in the world. It rivals the acoustics and size of La Scala in Milan and offers a musical and artistic history every bit as rich and colorful. The Colón Theatre is itself a living museum, displaying the costumes and memorabilia of past performances and host to the world s top orchestras, ballets, and opera companies. You will also get a special tour of the backstage and a private performance by two tenors just for the women of Olivia.
