As the sun rises higher in the sky and the days get longer, temperatures slowly rise. Summer (June August) is the warmest and usually the sunniest season. Rainfall totals can have a wide local variation due to localised thundershowers. These thundershowers mainly occur in southern, eastern, and central England and are less frequent and severe in the north and west. Temperatures are the highest in southern and central areas and lowest in the north. Southern portions of the UK are the warmest, with average highs in London 21.2 to 23.8 C from June through August, while northern areas like Scotland and northern England have the coolest summers averaging 12.2-14.8 C. Ireland: July and August are the warmest months, with mean daily temperatures of 14-16 C whilst daily maximums in July and August vary from 17-18 C near the coast. The sunniest months are May and June, with an average of five to seven hours sunshine per day. TOUR GUIDE VS.
