The Grange was built, we understand, in 1702 on the site of an Elizabethan house and further additions to the house and landscaping to the gardens were undertaken by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1926. The house features in Sir Nickolas Pevsner s book, Buildings of England, where its very attractive Queen Anne front elevation is described as an eccentric early 18th century front. The Grange works extremely well as both a family and entertaining house with fine reception rooms and extensive bedroom accommodation arranged over three floors. There are delightful period features throughout including an elegant galleried reception hall, early chimney pieces and some delightful panelling and the principal reception rooms have a wonderful outlook. The reception rooms are complemented by a superb kitchen/breakfast room which leads to the games room. The bedroom accommodation is extensive with an excellent master bedroom suite being joined by a guest bedroom suite, four further bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first floor with a further three bedrooms and a cinema on the second floor. In addition there is a self-contained annexe with sitting room, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms which provides ideal staff or guest accommodation.
