GENERAL OVERVIEW The Rocky Run YMCA summer camp program provides a safe and fun camping experience for all children. Great care has been taken to recruit staff with enthusiasm, and commitment to instilling the Y s Character Development in kids through a traditional outdoor camp program. Group activities like arts and crafts, sports, swimming, low ropes, performing arts, field trips and special events give kids the confidence to make new friends and create memories that last a lifetime. EXTENDED CAMP CARE Staffed by our Camp Directors and Counselors, your children will have positive role models to interact with on a daily basis. We provide a variety of games and sports in an indoor or outdoor setting. Parents must register their children in our Extended Camp Care Program. Camp registration can be taken at Rocky Run Y Welcome Center: Monday - Friday: 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM Saturday: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM and Sunday: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM 2 All campers must have a current Y membership; otherwise a Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA Full Privilege or Youth Program Membership must be purchased. 3 Registration closes two weeks before each camp week begins. Please be sure to register in advance, as our sessions fill up quickly. Registration requires a non-refundable $50 per week deposit. Deposits are applied to camp fees. Teens should have a positive attitude, ability to work in a group setting and a willingness to work with children as young as 4 years old. Arts and crafts, songs, and games are centered around weekly themes to engage curious preschoolers. Swimming and outside play are a highlight of summer camp for this age group. PIONEERS AVAILABLE SESSIONS: 1-12 Camp Pioneers focuses on a traditional Summer Camp experience for children in grades 1 2. Campers learn how to create new friendships and explore the natural world around them. Camp activities like art, music, nature, swimming, and sports are designed to build confidence, new skills, and untapped talent. Themes, field trips, and special events make it a different adventure every week. Full Privilege: $235/wk. Program: $265/wk. EXPLORERS AVAILABLE SESSIONS: 1-12 Camp Explorers focuses on a traditional Summer Camp experience for children in grades 3 4. Campers become more self-reliant and will explore new interests with activities like art, music, nature, swimming, and sports. PATHFINDERS AVAILABLE SESSIONS: 1-12 Camp Pathfinders gives kids in grades 5 6 a traditional camp experience with an emphasis on independence, and learning the importance of team building and leadership skills. Campers will enjoy fun-filled activities such as art, music, nature, swimming, and sports designed to build confidence and encourage exploration into new areas. Themes, field trips, and special events make it a different adventure every week. Full Privilege: $235/wk. Program: $265/wk. TRAILBLAZERS AVAILABLE SESSIONS: 1-12 Camp Trailblazers is intended for young teens and is designed to build their leadership skills, let them explore different career opportunities, give them a chance to make a difference in their community and most importantly, to let them have a fun-filled indoor and outdoor summer experience! ARTS & CRAFTS CAMP AVAILABLE SESSIONS: 7 Let your imagination soar as you discover your artistic side in our Arts & Crafts Camp. Participants will be stimulated and inspired with innovative projects that may include: clay sculpture, watercolors and paints, nature collage, scrap booking, paper mache, mural painting and much more. Create your very own masterpieces that you can take home and enjoy. CHEERLEADING CAMP AVAILABLE SESSIONS: 10 This camp is designed for kids who want to develop cheer skills in an exciting, creative and fun atmosphere. CSI CAMP AVAILABLE SESSIONS: 8 Kids will love learning about how detectives use science to figure out unsolvable thefts, arsons, mysteries, and more. This camp will include several in-depth activities on fingerprinting, evidence collection, ballistics, and solving crimes. Sign your detectives up today for a week filled of mystery and fun! LEGO & BUILDING WORKSHOP AVAILABLE SESSIONS: 2, 11 Lego & Building Camp is an excellent opportunity for learning and having fun. This camp will focus on building and construction ideas. The children will be challenged to use a wide variety of materials. 6-8 YEARS 9-12 YEARS MUSIC & DANCE CAMP AVAILABLE SESSIONS: 3, 9 Dance and World Music will be our focus this week. Not only will the kids learn classical dance techniques, but they will also explore the cultures and rhythms of the world. This will be a fun, energetic and exciting journey that our young musicians and dancers will be sure to love! 6-8 YEARS 9-12 YEARS THEATER CAMP AVAILABLE SESSIONS: 4-6 Calling all future actors and actresses! In Theater Camp campers will learn about staging and improvising, creating their own scenery, using their imagination with costumes and more. Campers will perform in a production at the end of the third week. Parents are encouraged to attend. Must register for all three session weeks. 6-8 YEARS 9-12 YEARS Full Privilege: $735/wk. SPORTS CAMPS Specialty Sports Camp is designed to teach basic fundamentals and knowledge of individual sports. Athletes will learn through fun instruction and will be taught at a building pace. Each day athletes will participate in game play so they can practice and use the skills they learned. Daily recreational swimming and weekly field trips are included. Participants must wear sneakers. BASEBALL CAMP AVAILABLE SESSIONS: 3, 8 Improve your baseball skills and knowledge, through a combination of instruction, drills, and game play. Skill sessions include: fielding, throwing, batting, and base running. Bring your glove. BASKETBALL CAMP AVAILABLE SESSIONS: 5, 10 Improve your foundational basketball skills, game knowledge, and decision-making on the court. Athletes will learn through a combination of instruction, drills, sports conditioning and team play. FLAG FOOTBALL CAMP AVAILABLE SESSIONS: 4, 9 Improve your football skill and knowledge, through a combination of passing, receiving, and blocking drills. Athletes will learn offensive and defensive game strategy and learn through a combination of instruction, drills, sports conditioning and team play. No equipment needed. TENNIS CAMP AVAILABLE SESSIONS: 6, 11 This co-ed camp is designed to help children understand and learn the sport of tennis. The camp will include drills, skills, and scrimmage matches. Camp activities also include weekly field trips, instructional swim, recreational swim, group games, arts and crafts, the Y s Boost Reading Program, and more. SOCCER CAMP AVAILABLE SESSIONS: 2, 7 Improve your soccer skills, confidence and endurance through a combination of instruction, sports conditioning and team play. GENERAL POLICIES AGE PLACEMENT Campers will be placed in their camp groups based on their age at the time of registration by the parent. We do not guarantee changes or transfers of children based on a birthday that occurs during our Summer Camp operational dates. Parents with children that have birthday s falling within our camp program weeks will need to contact the Camp Directors to inform them of this type of request. The Camp Directors will try to accommodate changes based on their discretion and the camper s ability to adjust to the new camp age group. SIBLING DISCOUNT A $5 sibling discount will be applied for second and subsequent children enrolled during the same week. May not be combined with any other discount. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE The Y is accessible to all individuals regardless of age, income or background. The Rocky Run YMCA counts on the generosity of our members and donors to keep our doors open to whoever needs a place to go to help them be more healthy, confident and connected to our community. Financial Assistance can be used for any Y program or membership. If you need help with payment of any portion of Summer Camp fees, please contact the Welcome Center to request a Financial Assistance application. Financial Assistance is awarded on a first come first serve basis. All applications must be submitted by Monday, May 1, 2017. PARENT HANDBOOK Upon receipt of a completed enrollment form and payment of registration and membership fees, parents will receive a Parent Information Handbook. The handbook contains details about YMCA Summer Camp policies and procedures. Parents must sign and return the Receipt of Parents Handbook form located in the back of the handbook. REFUND/CREDIT POLICY There are no refunds for deposits. Camp cancellations submitted in writing will be issued a refund less the deposit if the request is received prior to June 1, 2017. After June 1, 2017 refunds will be issued in the form of credit towards any YMCA program. No credit will be granted for a cancellation requested less than 2 weeks prior to the start of the camp session. SUPERVISION 1:1 The Rocky Run YMCA is not able to provide 1:1 supervision of any child in our branch programs. If your child requires 1:1 supervision it will be the parent s responsibility to inform the YMCA and provide that service for their child. TSS POLICY Therapeutic Support Staff (TSS) are permitted to accompany children in our YMCA Summer Camp, Child Care and School-Age programs at the Rocky Run Y. ADA COMPLIANCE Individuals with disabilities may request a workplace accommodation, a modification to a program, policy or practice, or auxiliary aids or services by contacting a Branch ADA Compliance Officer or the Association Office ADA Compliance Officer. Individuals with disabilities also have the option of contacting the Branch Program Director in person or by calling the YMCA branch s main telephone number and asking for the Program Director.
