Welcome Skeg Tash (Good Day!) The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community proudly welcomes you to Scottsdale, Arizona and the Talking Stick Destination. The Salt River Indian Community is home to two distinct tribes, the Akimiel O odham (Pima) and Xalchidom Piipaash (Maricopa); both share the same cultural values, but maintain their own unique traditions. The Community encompasses over 52,000 acres and is adjacent to the cities of Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe and the town of Fountain Hills. We invite you to experience our heritage of hospitality at Talking Stick: A Cultural and Entertainment Destination, conveniently located off the 101 freeway. Whether you're visiting for a couple of hours or a couple of days, we're sure you'll enjoy your time here with us! RED MOUNTAIN CALENDAR STICK The Talking Stick is a contemporary representation of the traditional calendar stick which records significant events for the tribe. Calendar sticks feature carvings or symbols that emphasize different events throughout the year. Similarly, each of the symbols on our Destination stick (logo) are representative of our area amenities.
