The Woodlands United Methodist Church 2018 Tour to Normandy and Paris $4989 per person in double occupancy Single Supplement: $600 Land Only: $4266 Thursday, June 7 - Depart USA on Air France flight #639 at 3:40 pm. Friday, June 8 - Arrive at De Gaulle Roissy Airport at 8:15 am Meet tour manager and bus driver; load luggage and board bus. Travel to Giverny for a visit to Monet s gardens. When Monet and his family settled in Giverny in 1883 the piece of land sloping gently down from the house to the road was planted with an orchard and enclosed by high stone walls. A central alley bordered with pines separated it into two parts. Monet had the pines cut down, keeping only the two yews closest to the house to please Alice. From this Clos Normand of about one hectare, Monet made a garden full of perspectives, symmetries and colors. Continue to Rouen for dinner and overnight. Saturday, June 9 - Explore Rouen and nearby Le Havre Breakfast Sightseeing tour of Rouen. Partially bus, old town walk. A stroll through the quaint old streets of Rouen, in Upper Normandy, feels like a walk back in time. History awaits at every turn, from the Middle Ages to the modern era. For believers, the journey leads a few steps closer to heaven. Rouen has more than 50 religious buildings, and many of the churches are gems of Gothic architecture. Most of the top tourist attractions in Rouen lie within the city's pedestrian zone, a charming area of winding medieval lanes and picturesque half-timbered houses. Highlights include the magnificent cathedral, the renowned Fine Arts Museum, and the remarkable Gros-Horloge clock tower. In Rouen, visitors can retrace the steps of Joan of Arc to see where she went to trial and where she was martyred. Tourists can also witness the destruction suffered during the Second World War. The exquisite facade of the Palais de Justice still has evidence of shell holes from Allied bombings.

Overnight in Rouen. Dinner on your own Sunday, June 10 - Transfer from Rouen to Caen via Honfleur Breakfast. Load bags on bus. Check out from hotel. Tour medieval Honfleur with a guide. Free time in this quaint little place. Located around the Vieux Bassin, or old harbor in France, Honfleur is a small town that still nestles many attractions to admire. Its harbor side bustles with people and activities rendering an immense charm to the city. There is a long list of things to do in Honfleur that keeps you engaged and bound to the city. Such as walking down one of the most beautiful cablestayed road bridge in Europe. Apart from that, spending at its picturesque port Le Vieux Bassin is one of the best ways to admire the beauty of Honfleur. Dinner & overnight in Caen Monday, June 11 - Excursion to the Normandy WW2 landing sites Breakfast. Tour WW2 sites with local guide. Including Pointe du Hoc: One of the largest German coastal batteries with six guns. Being of 6-inch caliber and of a range of about 10 miles, these cannons would be a threat to both Omaha and Utah beaches. Because neither the air nor the naval bombardment would be enough to be sure all guns were destroyed before the invasion started, the task was given to finish the job on D-day. Mission seemed impossible: after landing on the small rocky beach, they had to scale the cliff, a sheer wall of about 100 feet (with their rope ladders and grappling hooks) and find and destroy the guns. Total casualties resulted very high. A stop in Bayeux: Apart from its outstanding tapestry, a masterpiece of Romanesque art, Bayeux, the capital of Bessin, is depicted by the charm of a medieval and episcopal city. Miraculously the streets and monuments around the cathedral have survived the centuries. Bayeux is also proud of its illustrious past, from William the Conqueror to General de Gaulle, who came here to reassert France's sovereignty in what became a legendary speech And the American cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer : The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in France is located in Colleville-sur- Mer, on the site of the temporary American St. Laurent Cemetery,

established by the U.S. First Army on June 8, 1944 as the first American cemetery on European soil in World War II. Overnight in Caen. Dinner on your own. Tuesday, June 12 - Departure for the Mont St Michel Breakfast. Load bags on bus. Check out from hotel. Arrive Mont St Michel for lunch on own. Afternoon visit the Mont St Michel on your own. Late afternoon, continue to our hotel in Falaise for dinner and overnight. Wednesday, June 13 From Falaise to Chartres. Breakfast is served. Load bags on bus. Check out from hotel. Drive to Chartres for a tour of the city and an afternoon visit of its magnificent Cathedral. Chartres is a small city approximately an hour south-west of Paris by train. Population is 42,000 although that rises to 100,000 when the surrounding towns are taken into consideration. The main attraction for most visitors to Chartres is the 12th century cathedral, considered by many art historians to be the finest surviving example from the High Gothic period. Dinner and overnight in Chartres. Thursday 14/6 From Chartres to Versailles for a visit. Later to Paris. Breakfast. Bus and local guide for a tour to Versailles Castle Arrive at Versailles around 11.00am. Visit till 1.00 pm. Continue to central Paris. Brief scenic coach tour. Keep afternoon for possible performance. Dinner on you own. Friday 15/6 Morning coach sightseeing tour of the French Capital. Breakfast. Morning sightseeing Paris, the capital of France, has an annual 30 million foreign visitors, and so is one of the most visited cities in the world. Paris' sights include monuments and architecture, such as its Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower

and neo-classic Haussmannian boulevards and buildings as well as museums, operas and concert halls. With its many monuments, the city is a symbol of French culture, and since the 2000s attracts nearly three million visitors per year Visit the Eifel Tower. On March 31, 1889, workers riveted the last of more than 18,000 iron pieces into place to complete construction of the Eiffel Tower. To inaugurate the magnificent metallic structure, Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel, the tower s designer, climbed its 1,710 steps and unfurled a French tricolor flag from its pinnacle. Afternoon visit to the Louvre. Visit the palace of French kings to admire some of the world's finest art. The Louvre holds many of Western Civilization's most famous masterpieces, including the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci, and is one of the top things to do in Paris. The museum packs 30,000 artworks into a 60,000-square-meter exhibition space in three sections: the Denon, Richelieu, and Sully wings. Each wing has more than 70 rooms displaying paintings and objects of art, plus there are enormous halls filled with sculptures. It's impossible to see the entire collection in one day or even in a week. Farewell dinner. Saturday, June 16 - Transfer to De Gaulle airport for Air France flight #636 which departs Paris at 10:10 am. Breakfast. Load bags on bus. Check out from hotel. Transfer to De Gaulle Roissy.
