Mount Washington Valley Ski Team Summer Race Camp Saas-Fee, Switzerland Picture: the Village of Saas Fee with the training facility The MWV Summer Race camp invites you to Saas Fee for two weeks of training in the Swiss Alps. We will be staying at Saas Fee at an altitude of 6000feet and skiing on the Allanin Glacier at an altitude of 11,500 feet surrounded by Switzerland s highest mountains. It is truly a spectacular setting. We will be skiing and training next to some of the European World Cup teams as well as junior teams from around the region. The camp will consist of 12 days of skiing with two rest days in between. We will travel by train on those rest days to tour Switzerland. We will be staying in Saas Fee at the Hotel Bristol. Accommodations are two to a room or a large three bedroom suite suitable for campers. We will be dining at the hotel with Breakfast and Dinner. Lunches will be on the glacier at training.
A typical day consists of breakfast at 6AM with us loading the tram to the glacier at 7AM. The ride to the glacier is 40 minutes long with two tram rides followed by an underground train to the top station at 11,500 feet. Skiing is from 8AM to 12PM with lunch at our training site. The snow surface can be anywhere from rock hard to powder. We train on natural snow and do not use salt. This provides for more normal conditions we encounter during the winter ski season. Afternoons will be spent either resting or enjoying the outdoors with some incredible hikes around the area. There is also a large outdoor training facility that we use for dry land, soccer and tennis. Saas Fee is a town with no cars. The entire town is within a 5 to 10 minute walking distance from our hotel. In fact, during our entire stay we will not ride in a car. Camp includes all transportation in Switzerland, Lodging, food, Lift tickets, and coaching. It includes our off days sightseeing and touring some of Switzerland via the great public transportation system. All you need is a lot of energy and a desire to enjoy a new cultural experience.. Oh yes, and to improve your skiing skills training next to some of the best skiers in the world. Picture: The lower training glacier with the center GS training and slalom on each side.
