TENNIS TIP: Cooler Temps and Your Game From Joe Perrone, Director of Tennis Epping Forest Yacht & Country Club Remember, when playing in cooler weather you ll need to adjust your on-court habits. Since tennis balls don t bounce as high in cold weather, plan for a lower trajectory. This means you ll have to bend your knees deeper in order to meet the ball through the hitting zone at a lower plane. Consider hitting some low slices or drop shots from this lower stance. I also suggest you take a bit longer in your pre-match warm up routine to stretch out your lower torso. Stay warm and keep your eyes on the ball. Addison Glisson with a drop shot
