~ DAY CAMP NOTES & POLICIES ~ THE VALUES OF DAY CAMP: Day Camp is an experience where Scouts interact with each other in an outdoor setting. Emphasis is placed on NEW experiences difficult to obtain in the usual indoor den atmosphere. Day Camp provides an opportunity for continuation of the Cub Scout program during the summer months and helps each Pack earn the National Summertime Pack Award; plus will help the Pack qualify for the Journey to Excellence Award. It is an excellent medium for practicing the Core Values of Cub Scouting, thereby aiding in attaining the purposes of the Boy Scouts of America which are character development, citizenship training and personal and mental fitness. The Day Camp program is one of three Cub Scout camping programs in our council that promote fun and adventure with a purpose! Fun and adventure are the reasons Cub Scouts join Scouting and why they will remain Cub Scouts. STRUCTURE & ARRIVAL /DEPARTURE TIME please read carefully: Cub Scout Day Camp at Covington Park will be a week-long camp. Registration is scheduled for 7:45 8:00 each morning, with the opening scheduled for 8:05. Be sure to register EACH morning as you arrive. Please do not arrive before 7:30! Camp consists of a structured round-robin program full of activities that are both challenging, educational and fun. Campers must bring a bagged lunch every day except Friday. PLEASE NOTE that Friday will consist of only a half day program, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Camp will operate rain or shine. Also new this year we will be running 12 Dens which means smaller Den s LEADERSHIP INFORMATION: Every unit MUST provide chaperones, one leader/parent for every 5 boys, with a minimum of two leaders. This is critical as we will be running 12 Dens. NEWLY registered Tigers must have at least one parent/guardian with them during the entire week. Leadership can change or alternate through the week. Make sure each day is covered with two chaperones from your pack!! You should inform your parents that if they want their son to attend camp, they may have to help share chaperone duties. Chaperones are responsible for moving their den of boys from one program area to the next; keeping their den together and disciplined; and setting a good example by displaying an enthusiastic attitude throughout the day! NOTE: Special Offer to Cub Scout Parents : One Cub Scout from each family can attend Day Camp FREE IF their parent volunteers TO RUN an activity station, or Other Qualifying Positions for the whole week! If you are interested, please call the Scout Service Center at 570-207-1227, x 234 or 225.
