We had record attendance at the PARTY IN THE PARK on April 10 th! Thanks to the social committee, and to everyone who attended, for giving our winter residents a great send-off. We wish everyone safe travels, and a wonderful summer. For those of us who live here year-around, summer is a different season a slower pace, fewer organized activities, beautiful color as the cactus bloom, and a time for travel. By fall we are ready to greet returning neighbors and friends. Thanks to Chuck Lamb for agreeing to serve on the CSE II Board. The Board appointed Chuck to complete the balance of Wendell Byram s term. Chuck, as I think everyone knows, is a long-time resident and has served our Association in a variety of ways over the years. Welcome Chuck. I ll close by wishing everyone a good summer. Bill Copeland

CANOA SECA ESTATES II MAY 2017 NEW NEIGHBORS Welcome to Gail and Gary Karger at 3790 Reyecuelo. They found Green Valley two years ago and were snowbirds, but decided to skip the snow and buy a home. Moving from St. Paul, MN, they are now full time residents enjoying all that Green Valley has to offer. Gail was a Special Ed teacher in the White Bear Lake District, and Gary worked as a fiscal analyst for the Minnesota House of Representatives. Leslie and Ray Kush are the enthusiastic new owners of the home at 3826 Reyecuelo, where they are already involved in major remodeling. Although they hail from the San Francisco Bay area, Leslie and Ray enjoy traveling in their motor home to explore any area where they haven t been before. Leslie says they are so grateful to have found Green Valley and CSE II. They were only passing through at the end of an eight-day tour looking for a retirement destination. Now they are home! The new residents at 3781 Tejedor are Alex and Mary Lee Verhoogen. They are not new to Green Valley, just new to CSE II having moved from the other side of I-19. CANOA SECA ESTATES II MAY 2017 Rich Hill, Treasure, Financial Report: GVC NEWS Rich reports that the last three-month period income has exceeded expenses, largely due to the Preferred Vender Program, which has brought in $17,170 in revenue. Our financial position is up over last year and indicates a successful year of serving Green Valley. John Matuska, CEO Green Valley Hospital: Addressed the issue of GV Hospital and Chapter II Bankruptcy filing to restructure debt. This is a necessary move and will be a positive move on the part of the hospital. It will enable the hospital to continue to function and to draw physician groups in as well. New physician groups that have joined the hospital recently, are; pain management; oncologist; and orthopedic. Additional physician interest in GV Hospital and in Green Valley is increasing. Steve Christy, Pima County Supervisor, District 4: Recent 3% increase in sewer rates voted in by 3 to 2, Steve voted against rates, as he did not see a need to increase them. There is a program for people on fixed incomes to apply for assistance, which would reduce their monthly fees. Applications are available at GV District 4 representative s Sergio) office. Contact through GVC office 520-648-1936. Bill Copeland, Presiding for President Don Weaver: DUES: GVC is made up of HOAs from Green Valley 11,152 rooftops) and Quail Creek 1,832 rooftops). A portion of revenues for GVC operations comes from homeowner dues. Currently the dues are $7.50 per homeowner per year and have not been increased for many years. In that Green Valley is unincorporated and GVC is the liaison for Pima County, we need revenue in order to function in that role. Therefore it has become necessary to increase the homeowner dues. A vote was taken and passed to increase the dues by $2.00 /year. Jeannie North Green Valley Council Representative Canoa Seca Estates II 7
