Upon arrival, check the shipment against packing list. Promptly report to the carrier any damaged equipment. If you are not installing equipment upon receipt, store in a clean, dry location. KNIFEHOLDER COMPONENT ORIENTATION The Tidland Class II razor cartridge provides multiple options for positioning the cut point for your slitting application. Adjust the cut point by sliding the blade on the adjustment screw or by repositioning the razor on the cartridge strut. INSTALLATION Installing a new knifeholder assembly Tidland knifeholder guide bar mounting configurations include a manual lock, a pneumatic lock and the Easy Glider linear bearing mount. See your Tidland Performance Series Knifeholder manual for installation instructions for your specific knifeholder mounting type. A Web Path Web line or direction B Web Path Installing the razor cartridge on an existing knifeholder Performance Series Automatic Knifeholder 1. Remove the cartridge that is currently installed on your knifeholder. 2. Make sure there is a zero degree cant key installed in the knifeholder. 3. Install the razor cartridge assembly, noting the direction required for your web path. Performance Series Manual Knifeholder 1) Disconnect the cartridge air supply hose from the existing cartridge. 2) Make sure there is a zero degree cant key installed in the knifeholder. 3) Install the razor cartridge assembly, noting the direction required for your web path. 4) No air is required to operate the razor cartridge; you will need to stop the air supply from the control body to the cartridge. Option 1 Reconnect the cartridge air supply hose to the closed fitting on the razor cartridge. Option 2 Remove the air hose assembly from the control body. Adjusting the razor cut point OPERATION WARNING/CAUTION Danger due to cutting The Tidland Class II razor cartridge provides multiple options for positioning the cut point for your slitting application. Adjust the cut point by sliding the blade on its axis in place or by reversing the razor blade on the cartridge strut. To preserve the blade tip for plunging through the web, adjust the blade so that you are using the center portion of the cutting edge. Continue to adjust the blade until the edge is worn, then turn the blade over to expose the unused edge and continue slitting. In any position, the blade should never contact the anvil. For crush slitting applications, offset the blade behind the roll in the exit span of the web. For 'B' web path: Remove, reverse and reinstall the blade cartridge OR Remove the blade and reverse its position in the assembly. Parts for the following are referenced on page 7. Reversing the blade 1. Remove the adjustment screw in the blade guard. 2. Remove the razor blade and turn it over in the guard: (a) To access unused portions of the blade edge: turn vertically (b) For 'B' web path: turn horizontally Sliding the blade 1. Loosen the adjustment screw. 2. Slide the razor blade to the desired position. (a) "A" web path shown (b) Web clearance Use the depth control knob to adjust the height of the blade cartridge guard in relation to the web.
