ITINERARY DAY 1 WELCOME TO ITALY Today, we will pick you up to at Amerigo Vespucci Airport (FLR), so you won't have to worry about anything, we'll take you to your hotel where you'll stay for 7 nights. Rest of the day off to relax. Our Tip: Taste and Slow Italy Travel Agents Team will be glad to suggest how to spend your first day in Florence, nice places to walk and where to find typical and authentic local food. DAY 2 A DAY FULL OF ART It will be an art day!!! Among museums, squares and lots of monuments, we'll take you to discover some of the most important artistic treasures of Florence. Our day is divided into two parts: 1) in the morning we will give you a panoramic tour of Florence, in one of our comfortable Vans. During three hours you will venture though the surrounding neighborhoods of the city, cruising though the most important streets and squares -such as Piazza Michelangelo- coming till Fiesole, a little town in a foothills of a mountain from where we could get a panoramic view of Florence. This first part ends at Galleria dell'accademia. There we will take a guided tour -exclusively in English- though the museum's rooms which houses one of the most important artistic masterpieces in the whole world: Il David di Michelangelo. 2) In the afternoon we have a guided tour of another important museums in: La Galleria degli Uffizi. Where we find some of the most important works of all time and that obviously we can not lose... For example, do you remember any of these works?: The Birth of Venus by Botticelli, The Annunciation by Da Vinci, The Venus of Urbino by Titian, The Bacchus by Caravaggio. Here you could appreciate them closely. This tour will be a unique experience which will enable you to understand the reasons that made Florence the birthplace of the Renaissance.
DAY 3 THE LEANING TOWER Today we have to get up early otherwise we'll miss the scheduled tour of the day!!! In the morning, at about 8 am, we will leave for Pisa, where we can not miss the guided tour by the Square of Miracles where we will see: the Baptistery, the Camposanto, the Cathedral and the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. Later we will go to a wine cellar, where we will give you the tour of the cellars and obviously we will sample some local wines. The tour continues towards Lucca, a pretty picturesque town surrounded by intact walls, where we will have enough time to take a walk around the city center, visit the walls, visit the Piazza dell'anfiteatro, the Guinigi Tower and the Cathedral of San Martino. DAY 4 THE CATHEDRAL OF FLORENCE Our day stars at midday with a one and a half hour guided tour in English of the Santa Maria dei Fiori Cathedral Complex. The tour begins in a private room which screens a short film about the Cathedral and other important monuments of Florence. After the tour inside the Cathedral, we will climb to the Terrace from we could get an incredible overview of the city Also this tour includes the skip-the-line entrance to the Opera del Duomo museum, to the baptistery and to the Giotto's Campanile. You will have the rest of the day free to discover the city center by your own, or better jet... just relaxing with a glass of wine, prosecco or an espresso coffee in a local bar. DAY 5 THE HEART OF TUSCANY In this day we will visit the heart of Tuscany, passing through San Gimigano, the Chianti area -famous throughout the world for its wines- and the beautiful Siena. In the morning We will leave Florence to go south towards San Gimigano, an outstanding example of medieval village declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We will have time on your own to visit the old town to stroll around and discover the beautiful squares, buildings and evocative towers. The journey continues through the Chianti hills, fantastic landscapes that will make this one of the best travel experiences. We will visit an important wine cellar for a good light lunch and wine sample, you could taste delicious local products as home-made pasta, bruschette, cheese and cold cuts. After that we will travel to Siena, a city that is characterized by having a square shaped like a fan: la Piazza del Campo. Seat of the Palios of the 2 of July and the 16 of August, a particular race of horses of medieval origin... undoubtedly one of the most important events of Italy. Finally, we will make a stop in Monteriggioni, one of the few fortified Italian villages with at least 500 m of walls still intact. Monteriggioni, village medieval walls DAY 6 AN IMMERSION IN THE VAL D ORCIA Today will give you more chance to enjoy Tuscany! We'll make our way though one of the world s most picturesque countryside landscapes, admiring Tuscan farmhouses, vineyards and
olive groves as we drive by. We will make a stop in Montalcino to sample local wines and antipasto. The next stop will be in Pienza, there we will have time enough to stroll around the romantic little town center with a special flair which you will experience during an orientation walking tour. On the way back to Florence we will make the last stop in Montepulciano, where the richness of the Renaissance buildings and the elegant beauty of its churches are intertwined with the ancient Nobile wine tradition symbol of the city!!! Val d Orcia, characteristic countryside DAY 7 A DAY AT LEISURE IN FLORENCE Today is a free day, so you can spend the entire day relaxing or in case you feel energetic enough you can take the day to explore Florence your own way, do some shopping, visit other world-famous museums and galleries, or just stroll around it s up to you!!! DAY 8 SEE YOU SOON ITALY! Today the trip concludes and it s time to say your goodbyes. A private transfer will take you from your hotel to the airport whenever it s convenient for you. In case you have an afternoon or late evening flight you could take in more of Florence sights, do some last minute shopping or gallery and museum hopping.
