PROGRAM NOTES The oetry of Octavio Paz is a comoser's dream. The music seems to set itself (without the usual sruggle that invariably accomanies this task) and the rocess feels more like cleaning the oils from an ancient canvas!o reveal the hidden music than comosing. Wøer Night was no excetion, and the tight harmonies and atient unfolding seemed to our from the oetry from the first reading, singing its magic even after the English translation. Water Night is simly the næural musical exression of this beautiful oem, and is dedicated with my greatest sincerity to my friend and confidant Dr. Bruce lmayhall.
