7 Dear Club Presidents Things are happening quickly in ensuring that we build capacity for clubs and individuals to assist our friends in Fiji. Since my last email RAWCS [Rotary Australia World Community Service] have now established an Australian based fund to manage relief and rebuilding projects in Fiji. Other projects are also responding to the issue. Whilst it is still appropriate to send funds direct to NZ via the route previously advised, it may now be more efficient to support the RAWCS project. Individuals can and companies etc. can gain a taxation deduction for contributions made to the RAWCS Fund. The District contribution will be made via the RAWCS Fund. David Alexander, District International Director, has established a Fiji assistance resource on the District website. David will keep this page current as other options arise and thus it would be wise for clubs and in particular Club International Service Chairs, to regularly check this page. http://operations.9810rotary.org.au/international/ The care and concern of our clubs in this disaster again demonstrates the level of humanitarian concern existent within our District and for that you should all be commended.
