Biographical/Historical Note The Arkadelphia chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was organized on June 9, 1916. On that date, thirteen women who had established the Revolutionary War records of their ancestors became members of the group at the home of Mrs. Dougald McMillan, Organizing Regent. The Arkadelphia chapter aimed to arouse patriotic interest in the history of the country primarily through the study of Revolutionary ancestors, their hardships, their virtues, and their achievements. Scope and Contents Since its founding, the Arkadelphia chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has actively worked in the community, creating a body of historical materials documenting their efforts. This collection includes scrapbooks, yearbooks, directories, by-laws and resolutions, programs, newsletters and magazines, correspondence, minutes, and financial records of the local group from the time of its organization in 1916 through 1990. The materials are arranged by format.
