July 1 KEF - PRA Depaarture to KEF around 21.00. Flight from Iceland to Prague with Lufthansa, departure around 01.30 (stopover in Münich)..

July 3 Prague - Melnik Today begins the cycle tour on the outskirts of Prague, Trojan Palace. Our journey goes northwards along the Vltava where we pass Nelahozeves Palace. We bike in the Bohemian wine-growing region to the Melnik center of winery. We will visit the renaissance Palace in Melnik and take a look at the churches of Peter and Paul, which are located at the intersection of the Elba and Vltava rivers. July 4 Melnik - Roudnice nad Labem From Melnik the route goes along the Elbe to Roudnici nad Labem, which has a long history and is the oldest town of the Czech Republic. It became a town in the 12th century. Roudnici nad Labem belonged to the Austrian Empire from 1867 to 1918 and is today an important industrial and commercial city. July 5 Roudnice nad Laben - Terezin - Lovosice We start early and bike along the Elbe to Lovosice. Around noon a car from our hotel will meet us and take our luggage so we can tour Theresienstad Concentration Camp (also called Theresienstad Ghetto).The Camp was created by the SS during World War II in an old fortress in the town of Terezin. A large number of prisoners were executed there or died of starvation. Others were sent to Treblinka and Auschwitz in Poland or other smaller concentration camps. July 6 Lovosice - Ústí nad Labem Usti nad Labem became a center of commerce in 993. Until 1918 the city was part of the Austrian Empire. In the 19th century the city was known under the German name Aussigog and was an important industrial city and today is one of the larger cities in Bohemia. July 7 Ústí nad Labem - Děčín Děčín Castle is probably the most popular tourist attraction in the town and is built on a hill near the city center overlooking Elbe. The castle has a long history. Originally it was built as a fortress and in the last century it hosted both the Nazi and Soviet armies. The castle has been an inspiration for musicians - Chopin wrote the waltz in A-major. July 9 Bad Schandau - Dresten After an early breakfast we bike towards the city of Dresden. Dresden was almost completely destroyed during World War II but has since been renovated. July 10 Dresden Today we tour Dresden; Zwinger, Semperoper, Frauenkirche, Royal Palace, Bruhl Terrace (Balcony of Europe), Furstenzug, Katolische Hofkirche and New Town Hall.
