There are 325km of pistes in Megève and glacier skiing in Chamonix just 30 minutes away. Getting there Megève is one of the fastest transfer times in the Alps and one of the easiest. Just one hour from Geneva airport by motorway and a short climb up from Sallanches makes Megève a great choice for a weekend retreat. Saint Gervais Just a 15 minute drive from Megeve is Saint Gervais, an historic spa town which was first popular in the early 1800s and boasts classic stone buildings, ironwork and sculptures, all reminiscent of the Paris Métro. Contrary to common belief, Saint Gervais is now a busy resort, no longer overshadowed by its larger neighbours. Saint Gervais is linked to the Evasion Mont Blanc, the third largest ski domain in France, with 445km of slopes. I f that isn t enough it is also conveniently linked to the Megeve ski system via the Bettex gondola on the edge of town making it quick and easy to reach Megeve and its slopes. One of the main attractions is the Saint-Gervais- Les-Bains thermal baths which offer both relaxation and healing qualities.
Winter Megève has a substantial ski area with over 300km of pistes served by 80 ski lifts. Chamonix is just 30 minutes away and offers an additional 115km of piste including glacier skiing at 3840m. The ski area includes Mont Joly at 2355m, which has some challenging runs and with over 170 snow canons you can be sure that you will be able to ski right down into the town centre until the very end of the season. There is some excellent off-piste skiing in the area, and Chamonix s world famous ski area is just a half hour drive away. There are over 30 mountain restaurants, many of them are gourmet standard and easily accessible for non-skiers meeting their friends for lunch. Après ski The nightlife is lively and varied with informal pubs, chic piano bars, exotic nightclubs, and everything in between. After skiing there are plenty of activities, an outdoor ice rink, sports centre with an Olympic size swimming pool, and you can dance until dawn. Megève is an excellent resort for non-skiers and skiers alike.
Summer As a full dual season resort, Megeve has a number of fantastic summer activities, from hiking to mountain biking, and including an 18 hole par 72 golf course, tennis courts, and both open air and indoor swimming pools. For the more adventurous there is white water rafting, canyoning, parapenting and hot air balloon rides. If you like to keep on the ground there are 150km of marked hiking trails and 80km of biking trails. For the children there is a High Ropes Adventure Park, and a summer luge with a choice of two 500m trails. In the evenings there are plenty of bars, restaurants and summer concerts. Megeve is as picutreque in summer as in winter, and most of the bars, restaurants and excellent array of shops open during the summer months as well as the winter. This is a fantastic choice for those looking for more than just skiing.
