It represents an amalgamation of data from a variety of sources. In some cases, "community name" represents a cluster residential properties in a designated area. This level of detail is required when determining the geographic proximity to the Point of Presence (PoP) where the aggregation of broadband service takes place. Broadband service is defined as Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), Fibre to the home (FTTH), Docsys (cable) or fixed wireless. Cellular and satellite based broadband service is not included in the analysis. A number of communities are listed as unknown under the heading B/B Service. For those communities, IBRD has not been advised by the carriers of the current connection status. For the purpose of analysis and in conducting the calls for proposals, these communities are assumed to be unserved. Depending on the technology deployed, there may be households within a served community that do not have access to broadband. The data does not reflect the available download/upload speeds for any given community. However, those communities that have received service as a result of an RBI call will be scalable to a minimum 5 Mbps download speed. The data does not reflect subscription rates. Areas or clusters of dwellings that are for recreational purposes are not included unless service to the area already exists. Likewise, very small communities (ie. < 10 households) comprised of seasonal residents have been removed from the data. Footnote: *Communities with access to broadband service noted as (Yes *) have been announced under RBI III funding and will have access to service upon completion of RBI III projects.
